1. Precepts on Christian Marriages
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r... download (, 0.00Mb)

Description:

The Christian Marriage

A Christian who is entering into marriage, recognizes the belief that the union shall first be sanctified by the church. Proper rites shall include - a public declaration in front of the public and God; and a marriage vow to help sanctify that union. It is the belief of all Christians, that God is the central unifying factor between couples entering into holy matrimony - hence, the need to have the union blessed through ceremonies held in church, in front of God.

Evolution of the Christian Marriage

Christians believe in Jesus Christ as God and Savior. The central factor in their lives, revolve around the presence of a living stream of water that flows within them, which signifies the presence of God in their persons. This belief in Jesus Christ, propels every Christian to tap this well spring of God in all his actions and deed - which includes, among others, that of holy matrimony.

Being in the flow of God's love, would mean that a Christian walks along His path, and not by the flesh alone(Galatians 5:16). Matrimony is considered as a gift of God, which therefore should commence, as a new life with Jesus Christ through the holy sanctity of marriage.

The model for Christian marriages was advocated by a Catholic saint, Saint Augustine (354-439 AD), with his published letter, The Good Marriage. In that letter, he advocated monogamous marriages. The letter was so influential that it brought about the fruition of the Justinian Code, by Roman Emperor Justinian in 534 AD. This code served as a basis for the adoption of the European Law for 1,000 years.

Christian marriage, prior to more recent times, had been quite informal. Ages ago, couples could just promise to love and behold each other; a verbal promise, that was considered as good and binding as any other written contract. The recent evolution in marriage rituals brought about the declaration of themarriage vows, that was incorporated into the Book of Common Prayers. These developments, madepresent marriages, more formal in tone and demeanor.

Christian Marriage Rituals

Couples can marry in their local chapels or churches. Most churches have requirements before anyone can get married on their parish. Among these requirements may include: length of time that any of the couple had attended church service, whether one of the couple had been baptized in that parish, and if any of the parents or grandparents were married there, among other requirements.

Before the marriage can take place, the couples should arrange to have their banns read out in three Sundays, during the three months before their marriage. Other arrangements like - wedding seminars, hymns, prayers, music, and wedding motif shall be discussed with the church chaplain or minister. This attention to minute detail would make for a better flow of ceremonies and avoid confusion that may arise, as a result of inadequate preparation.

The Christian marriage ceremonies, usually follows a prescribed standard ritual:

* Beginning the service where the priest welcomes the congregation.

* The couples' declaration to God and the public of their promise to love and protect each other till death.

* The couples' declaration to God and the public of their marriage vows to one another

* The exchange of rings between the couples to signify the binding of two persons into one and as a sign of their mutual fidelity, by joining their hands on a pledge.

* Proclamation by the priest that the couples are now husband and wife.

* Prayers for the couple.

* Readings and sermon taken from the Bible

* Signing of the registers where the couple and two witnesses, sign the wedding register to legally bind the marriage.

Marriage, as seen by Christians, is an act of affirmation of God's love, that the faithful should take seriously. It is the solemnity of a union through marriage that should precede all acts which include - engaging in sexual relationships and the building a family life together. The life of Christians center on its adherence to its faith, and of its very essence - Jesus Christ, who is God Almighty!

3. Thoughts on Meditation
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r... download (, 0.00Mb)

Description:

When you meditate do you hear the voice of God? We must slow down and calm our minds, ridding it of every thing that we clutter it with during our daily living. If we want to hear the voice of God we will only hear it through silence. Psalms 4:4 tells us "To lay quietly upon our bed in silent meditation."

So many times we want to do all the talking but we need to listen to our inner voice and let God speak.Allow ourselves to see visions and dream dreams. Allow the Creator to reach out to you and enjoy the oneness with the one that gave you the breath of life and let Him fill you with His love. This is true Meditation.

4. Share Jesus from Your Pocket: Pocket Testament League

John 20:21 "As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."

The casket hung for just a second at the edge of the Earth and then continued its descent.

Linda squeezed her eyes shut. It was the first time she'd ever attended the funeral of a friend she knew died without Christ. She vowed, as she stood at the gravesite, it would be the last.

Christians know that Evangelism is an important part of their life in Christ. It is imperative for those in our world who are without salvation and an essential building block in our own spiritual life. But many Believers do not know how to share their faith. They are uncertain of how to even begin.

Pocket Testament League is an organization that, since 1893, has helped Christians with free evangelism training. But longevity does not mean PTL is outdated. On the contrary, the website offers fresh ways to bring others to Jesus.

FOR THE 'OLD-TIMERS'
PTL knows the most effective Evangelism tools are Christians who know the Word of God and love to spend time reading and sharing it. They offer Evangelism Bootcamp, a 21-Day Challenge (where participants read one chapter of John each day and use free daily devotionals to dig deeper), a variety of ways to share and a community of like-minded believers. The Community shares success stories, prayer requests and suggestions.

FOR NEW BELIEVERS
The Christian life does not end with salvation. PTL offer new believers a free 4-part correspondence course to learn the basics and begin growing in their faith. The free daily devotionals and community of fellow-laborers are available to help and support them. That, along with the 21-Day Challenge and Evangelism Bootcamp put every babe in Christ off to a good start.

THEGOSPEL OF JOHN
Because the Gospel of John talks more about the love of Christ than any other, PTL uses it as their primary witnessing tool. Bright, contemporary cover art makes the book eye-catching. Titles target different groups of people. Call the Right Play is designed for sports enthusiasts. Forever Faithful, designed for pet lovers, features three beautiful dogs. A dramatic photograph of the formation of infant stars taken by the Hubble telescope graces the cover of Cosmic Fingerprints. The unique design of B Free features a graffiti-filled wall, perfect for sharing the Gospel on the streets. Although the message of each testament is the same, the cover art, the first thing people notice, is designed to catch the attention of those to whom it is given.

No Christian should ever have to stand by the grave of a friend and wonder if they shared their faith adequately. Pocket Testament League will build your faith, provide evangelism tools and disciple those who respond to your invitation to know Jesus as Savior. Their mission is to facilitate yours. Visit them at http://www.ptl.org/. Find your tools to fulfill the Great Commission.

5. "The Genius of Ancient Man" champions Biblical history
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r... download (, 0.00Mb)

Description:

by Robert Driskell
11/02/2012 / Book Reviews

Current evolutionary theory tells us that humanity evolved from some initial simple life form. It tells us that humans evolved through a series of stages; improving from ignorant brute beasts to what we are today. A new book, The Genius of Ancient Man, published by Master Books, a division of New Leaf Publishing Group, challenges that presupposition by offering an alternate scenario. Genius challenges current evolutionist theory by advocating that the facts of history, geology, and archeology fit the biblical record of humanity's history better than they fit the evolutionist theory.

Secular scientists believe they are operating without any preconceived ideas. They claim that they are doing scientific research with the attitude that they are simply following the evidence wherever it leads. They claim to let the facts speak for themselves. They are being disingenuous. They actually begin with the presupposition that everything can be, must be, explained in purely naturalistic terms. In other words, everything can be explained without acknowledging God's existence or participation.

Pastor Don Landis, and a team from Jackson Hole Bible College, holds a different presupposition. They believe that the Bible is the authoritative Word of God and every fact must conform to biblical truth. As it states in the book, "By starting with God, one discovers with great satisfaction that the physical world confirms the truth of His Word" (p. 15). The Genius of Ancient Man is the fruit of their research into how evidence of the true biblical account of Creation, and the Flood, is found all over the world and in all civilizations.

The Genius of Ancient Man presents evidence that the Bible's account of Creation and the Flood is seen in most cultures of the world all throughout history. The biblical account shows up in the advanced technology of ancient man; in the ability ancient man had to travel the world; in monuments, mounds, pyramids, and such found all over the world. Traces of the biblical Creation/Flood account even show up in the world's religions, legends, music, and art.

As I have been a student of the Bible for quite some time, I have often pondered how different ancient history would look if we evaluated it from a biblical view instead of the evolutionist viewpoint I was fed all through my years in public education. The Genius of Ancient Man goes a long way in showing that the actual physical evidence supports the biblical record far more consistently than the evolutionists' fantasy.

Near the end of the book there are twenty-one axioms ("a fact that ought to be a widely held and understood truth" p. 98) that are foundational to the theological stance of Jackson Hole Bible College. These axioms, and their explanations, are almost worth the price of the book by themselves.

For anyone who holds to the historical interpretation of Genesis, and those not satisfied with the evolutionist description of ancient man, this is a must-have book.

6. Don't Miss God's Special Blessing For You

Description:

by Steve Countryman
11/02/2012 / Christian Living

Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you." God has chosen you for this place and time, Esther 4:14 "for such a time as this." Joel 2:25-32 "I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten, the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm, my great army that I sent among you. 26 You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed. 27 Then you will know that I am in Israel, that I am the Lord your God, and that there is no other; never again will my people be shamed. 28 "And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days. 30 I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke. 31 The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. 32 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the Lord has said, even among the survivors whom the Lord calls."

We are living in the last of the last days. A great awakening of God's children has begun. Jesus has "shaken to awaken" His church body in our country of the United States. God uses the wicked to bring Him glory. God has been using wicked politicians and wicked people of influence to help waken His children. This great awakening is moving all over the earth. God is moving and is pouring out His Spirit all over the world unlike anything the world has ever seen and will never see again! We who are His children are here for God's purpose and will to be fulfilled. Not just to survive, get by or to witness these last day events but to be included and participate in them. This is the most spectacular time to be alive because of what God is doing. This is the time to rejoice and praise God for all that He has planned. "The harvest is great but the workers are few".

Sad that there are those Christians who every time you talk to them they seem to be totally defeated, beat up and on their last leg. All they ever say is how they can't wait until Jesus comes again. That things are so bad everywhere that surely the Lord is coming any minute. They don't know how they can hang on any longer. What they are doing is giving the Devil way too much credit talking about the wicked sinful world that is getting worse. They destroy their own testimony to the lost when they open their mouths. Why would the unsaved want our Jesus if all they heard from us was about our misery? They have plenty of their own. Where is our victory? They instead should see the hope that lives in each of us. That even in tough times and times of despair that our God is greater than all of the world's problems. That our God is the only answer to the salvation of the world that you can bank on because God never fails. Our hope is not found in our president or government leaders. It cannot found in science, man's wisdom or any worldly thing. Our hope and our future is only found in Jesus Christ.

It all has to do with our obedience. Praying and seeking God daily to hear Him more clearly with a sensitive spirit and the gift of discernment. Walking in reverential fear along God's path, by His Word, in alignment and agreement of His scripture, led by His Holy Spirit, a life worthy of His call with a dedicated and committed heart. So when God has a task for us that we respond obediently, timely, correctly, without hesitation and with a willing loving heart. Jesus said in John 14:12 "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."

The Bible tells us 365 times not to fear or be afraid. That is one for each and every day of the year. For if you walk in fear and not in faith you are walking in sin. Romans 14:23 "everything that does not come from faith is sin." Fear robs you of your blessings and God's promises in your life. Fear will trap, enslave and rule over you, turning you into a useless Christian. This is the most exciting time in history to experience God's awesome earth and soul shaking power. We who are His children have all been picked by God for a time and place such as this to fulfill His destiny and His will in us, to us, for us, with us and through us! We are not here to fail, faulter, quit, give up, give in , compromise away, abandon our beliefs, hide, condone wickedness in our silence, be abused or ignore the Holy Spirit. We are here to show the world and to display in our every day lives the outrageous, mighty, powerful, forgiving, immeasurable, unfailing, unmatched, perfect, unchanging, extravagant, lavish, unselfish, giving and everlasting love of God the Father. What a challenge and privilege to do such a thing.

You don't have to be a perfect Christian to do so as no one is save Christ. But being a Christian is to be a practicing Christian who tries every day to be the best ambassador and kingdom representatives that you can be. Your journey along God's path is not an easy one but one full of challenges and troubles. God never promised a smooth ride along His path but He did promise that you would never have to go it alone for God is ALWAYS with you. This is not the time to be afraid but a time to rejoice, be glad and praise the Lord. Give God the praise and the glory daily for being your God, King of kings, Lord of lords and Lord of hosts. For God alone is worthy of all of your praise and worship especially in these last days! It is time to stand on the Word of the Lord and not to miss out on ANY special blessings that God has set aside for YOU!

My name is Steve and I was born and raised in a good Christian home in Phoenix Arizona. In 2004 God spoke to me to let me know that He would start sharing things with me that I would share with others. Little did I know how powerful and meaningful those things would be! Thank you Lord!!

But can see where it has been.
We may not see the spirit within
But see results of life that wins.

Fruits of the spirit can change the day.
Bring about a new and living way.
When nourished with love
And knowing Christ above.

Be deeply rooted in His word,
Instruction sought and heard.
Prayer, faith, and love come to stay.
With confidence we face a new day.

9. What is Faith . . .
http://feedproxy.google.com/~r... download (, 0.00Mb)

Description:
by Deborah Ann Belka
11/03/2012 / Poetry

Faith is what we hope in,
it's what we cannot see
it's when we trust Jesus
to calm the storms at sea.

It's a touch of His hem,
it's knowing He will heal
it's confident and it's sure
God promises He'll fulfill.

It's firm and unquestioning,
it's strong and never weak
it's alive and it dwells
in the hearts that are meek.

It's believing that God can,
it's knowing that He will
it's trusting in His timing
that keeps the heart still.

It's willing to die to self,
it's believing in God's Word
it's willing to pay the price
for the truth that its heard.

Faith is what we hope in,
it's beyond what the eye sees
it's the trust we have in Jesus
and it brings us to our knees.
