When eating breakfast, do you go to the same webpage daily, expecting new material? Do you listen to the same podcast while commuting? What if they weren’t there for you one day? You’d find something new. “Just this once,” you’d say, but you might form a new habit.
 
Attention doesn’t stop for anyone, it’s like age but attention does reward consistency very well.
 
You want to be a reliable provider, source, brand, product, or whatever. You need to be there for your audience and customers.
 
Lack of consistency also means you are losing the real estate
 
In snapchat attention is time limited, similarly on Instagram and Facebook with the new design stories are a major part and if you don’t post every 24 hours you lose that attention from your potential clients to someone else

How many times you walked down the grocery aisle and told yourself maybe later. Alot of things which you want, we tell ourselves we will get it later. Now imagine you walk down the same grocery aisle and you see a sale which has limited quantities and time offer. Only 30 pieces are remaining and offer is only valid today. Now your maybe can change to I want that!!

 

Supreme

Look at this example from a brand called Supreme. You won’t believe, what this brand has been able to achieve. They have a cult following and with only 11 stores worldwide they are valued at 1 Billion $.

This is crazy right….their cult following reminds people of michael jordon or nike limited release days in 1990’s, when people use to line up outside stores to buy them and then when gaming companies use to launch games on Xbox or Nintendo there use to be lineups on Best Buy and other electronic stores.

Supreme works on the principal of Exclusivity and Scarcity. They produce just limited number of products.

Crazy stuff is there are websites which re-sell Supreme merchandise for like 400 or 600% original price…if a hoodie costed $300 it’s reselling for $1600….holy!!

In the past, they've had to do all sorts of algorithms to try and get at this from obtuse angles. But now, with a lot of the work that they're doing around measuring engagement and with all of the data that's coming to them through Chrome and through Android, they're able to get much, much closer to what is truly accomplishing the searcher's task. That's because they really want results that satisfy the query and fulfill the searcher's task.

That is so different from how it used to be. It used to be that you could have that contact form. You could have that on there. You could not solve the searcher's query. You could basically be very conversion rate-focused on your page, and so long as you could get the right links and the right anchor text and use the right keywords on the page, guess what? You could rank. Those days are ending. I'm not going to say they're gone, but they are ending, and this new era of searcher task accomplishment is here.

With increased marketing and awareness, the number of consumers buying items from Black Friday promotions has increased to 31 percent in 2017.

The average holiday shopping expenditure for Canadians shopping in-store in 2017 was 1,622 Canadian dollars, with children and partners being the people consumers spend the most on during the holidays. When it comes to generational holiday shopping budgeting, Millennials are the generation most likely to exceed their budget, with 55 percent of Millennial consumers stating they over-spent in 2017.

Despite the high prevalence of over-spending across all generations, price is an important factor to consumers when they are purchasing holiday gifts. This comes as no surprise when you consider that 50 percent of consumers anticipated that the prices of holiday goods would be higher in 2017 than the previous year. What is Google RankBrain?

RankBrain is a machine learning (AI) algorithm that Google uses to sort the search results. It also helps Google process and understand search queries.

In short, RankBrain tweaks the algorithm on its own.

Depending on the keyword, RankBrain will increase or decrease the importance of backlinks, content freshness, content length, domain authority etc.

Then, it looks at how Google searchers interact with the new search results. If users like the new algorithm better, it stays. If not, RankBrain rolls back the old algorithm.

Here’s the craziest part:

Google asked a group of Google Engineers to identify the best page for a given search. They also asked RankBrain.

23 billion texts sent every day.

Reciprocity:

In the study, giving diners a single mint at the end of their meal typically increased tips by around 3%. Interestingly, if the gift is doubled and two mints are provided, tips don’t double. They quadruple—a 14% increase in tips

Scarcity:

When British Airways announced in 2003 that they would no longer be operating the twice daily London—New York Concorde flight because it had become uneconomical to run, sales the very next day took off. Notice that nothing had changed about the Concorde itself. It certainly didn’t fly any faster, the service didn’t suddenly get better, and the airfare didn’t drop. It had simply become a scarce resource. And as a result, people wanted it more.

Authority:

One group of real estate agents was able to increase both the number of property appraisals and the number of subsequent contracts that they wrote by arranging for reception staff who answered customer enquiries to first mention their colleagues’ credentials and expertise.

So, customers interested in letting a property were told “Lettings? Let me connect you with Sandra, who has over 15 years’ experience letting properties in this area.” Customers who wanted more information about selling properties were told “Speak to Peter, our head of sales. He has over 20 years’ experience selling properties. I’ll put you through now.”

The impact of this expert introduction led to a 20% rise in the number of appointments and a 15% increase in the number of signed contracts.

Consistency:

In one famous set of studies, researchers found rather unsurprisingly that very few people would be willing to erect an unsightly wooden board on their front lawn to support a Drive Safely campaign in their neighborhood.

However in a similar neighborhood close by, four times as many homeowners indicated that they would be willing to erect this unsightly billboard. Why? Because ten days previously, they had agreed to place a small postcard in the front window of their homes that signaled their support for a Drive Safely campaign. That small card was the initial commitment that led to a 400% increase in a much bigger but still consistent change.

Liking:

Persuasion science tells us that there are three important factors. We like people who are similar to us, we like people who pay us compliments, and we like people who cooperate with us towards mutual goals.

Consensus:

75% of people who check into a hotel for four nights or longer will reuse their towels at some point during their stay. So what would happen if we took a lesson from the Principle of Consensus and simply included that information on the cards and said that 75% of our guests reuse their towels at some time during their stay, so please do so as well. It turns out that when we do this, towel reuse rises by 26%.
