1. Is this what Anya meant? http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: This video matches up two of my top 10 favorite things -- bunnies and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Enjoy this little excerpt (audibly speaking) from BTV S' Once More with Feeling: Why Anya had a debilitating fear of bunnies is beyond me... But everything about them creeped her out. It was one of her more confusing qualities, and she had many. |

3. Bring Cloth Bags!!! http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: Wow, this slideshow is eye-opening. They document all their facts. And the pictures don't lie. Bring your cloth bags to Target, Walmart, the grocery store, everywhere. Sometimes I get paper bags (to hold our recycled paper in, since our town requires it to be in bags), but DO NOT use plastic. Please. It's a horrible waste. Thanks for tolerating my treehugginess. And thanks, Pocono Record, for making the slideshow. |

7. Martha blogs http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: Martha Stewart, to whom I've been compared by Paul in our PnD blog, started a blog last year and she's really diligent with keeping up with posts, which is sometimes hard to do. I guess it doesn't hurt that she has "blog managers" to help her out! :-) Martha has built a blog studio, which she keeps intentionally simple to deter distractions. If only all of us could have a separate space for blogging! But maybe the mobility of the laptop bloggers (me included) counts for more, as I can blog whenever I'm around my laptop and come across an interesting bit of bunny-related news or a video that my readers like... Food for thought. What do you think? Are you a one-place for blogging sort or do you blog wherever you are (with a laptop)? |

8. Bandit's an inside kitty now http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: On September 8, I brought Bandit to our vet to get her checked out and then brought her inside. No longer is she sleeping in open garages or under our back deck. Now she's got comfy rugs and cushions and toys and windowsills. And, remarkably, my allergies haven't flared up ONCE since she's been in our home. True, I keep her brushed and I wipe her every now and then with these moist kitty wipes to keep her dander at a minimum, but I also smoosh her and cuddle her and hold her and pet her like crazy and I don't react. Could this be a touch of fate, that I got a cat I'm not very allergic to? To answer your questions preemptively, no, the bunnies have not met her yet. She's such a sweetie, though, that I'm confident she'll be appropriately pushed around by the bunnies. Especially the toughie, SweetPea! You want the predator animals to be below the prey animals on the pecking order in any house. Otherwise, you have a very dangerous situation. Her name is Bandit not only because she needed a tough girl name outside, but also because she stole my heart. Damn cat. ;-) Thought you'd like some pictures, so here you go: I maul Bandit (and she loves it!): She looks like a very big cat here. She's like 9 pounds and actually a very small kitty: Purrrrfectly happy (she hardly ever stops purring): "I'm a model? Of course I'm a model. I couldn't care less." Naptime (it's always naptime): "Hey, whatcha doing? Is it playtime yet?" |

9. Bunny movie by Michael Sormann http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: We all need a chuckle every now and then. I found this lovely short on YouTube and wanted to share it with you! This whole thing started off with a bunny who didn't think he needed to become any smarter than he was. I, for one, agree. Enjoy! |

10. Be at peace, Ariel http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: ![]() Okay, I'm ready to share... Last Thursday, August 28, Ariel died in her sleep. Amy, who was bunnysitting while we were in Puerto Rico, was alerted a few weeks ago that this may happen, so it wasn't a surprise. In February, she had a stroke (probably brought on by progressing e. cuniculi) and has since had limited mobility. She couldn't walk or hop very well, she couldn't binky (her name came about because the day I got her, she just binkied all over the apartment with happiness; arial --> Ariel), she couldn't clean the back half of her body. She's been in really bad shape these past few months, but definitely the past few weeks, spending most of her time lying on her side, as she could only stand up for a few minutes or until she tried to walk too quickly. She still had spunk, but I saw that fading, too (along with her eyesight), the last few days before we left for vacation. I told her before we went that it was ok if she wanted to go, that I loved her and understood, that I only wanted her to stay if she was happy and wanted to. She's definitely in a much better place now and without pain or stiffness. It's a different house without my beautiful Calendar Girl. I'm glad I got these last 6 months since her stroke to bond with her. She let me get to know her like I never did before, and I'm grateful for that little blessing. She was 7 years and almost 8 months old. She will be missed terribly and loved always. I'm sure Amber found her at the Rainbow Bridge and is hopping and binkying all over with her. I'm going to look into cremating her body and keeping her with us. I don't want to bury her in our back yard because then we'd have to leave her behind whenever we move. She'd want to be with her mommy, as that was where she felt happiest this year -- wrapped up in a towel and in my arms. Now you can binky all day long, my little angel girl. |

11. FramesByDana.com, the redo http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: They say that many successful Internet voyages begin with family and friends. You tell your circle, they tell theirs, they tell theirs and before you know it, you've got a great audience. I'm hoping my blog friends will tell their extended family and friends about FramesByDana.com, which I've just spent 3 days updating. It now has a shopping cart, a wedding section, and a streamlined frames section. Please tell people about the site. It's what I love doing. And I don't know what better thing you can say about an income stream than that. If you're wondering why I redid the site this week, between 2 big vacations and while researching our book, it's because I've taken an ad on a local deli's paper placemats. There's 800 placemats, I think, which should last Kugel's Deli about 8 or 9 months. My ad is top and center, so should be very visible. I'm hoping to get real business from that investment. I've known all along that my site gets WONDERFUL SEO (search engine optimization) -- that is, Google loves me. But the lack of constant ordering is because I don't have what you expect at a commerce website: a shopping cart. Well, now I do. So with the site now at over 17,000 page views, I decided to add it and give myself a real chance at this. I hope you'll help me by simply telling people about the site. I still have much to add to the site -- a greeting card section, for one -- but I wanted to get what I've been working on the past year (the wedding section) online and also add the shopping cart. So stay tuned for more goodies in the months to come. And make sure to navigate all the pages/sections. There's a handy-dandy nav bar on every page so you don't get lost. Tell me what you think about the new and improved site! Thanks for any publicity you can toss my way! Or feel free to order something... :-) |

13. Podcamp Boston 3 http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: Some good quotes already from Podcamp Boston 3. Paul and I are here, trying to learn something new about social media. Chris Brogan (in an impromptu talk in the cafe about old media vs. new social media): Now there's Twitter and that's what you do in the bathroom. David Meerman Scott session now (just a Q&A, but he's great at that) gives us this video (1.9 million views of a toilet company video): WARNING: NOT FOR KIDS!! Now if I could just get the damn time to continue the BunnyBlab podcast series! =:-3 (The archives are still valuable, though, so get thee to the podcast series!) PCB3 is crashing both the Harvard server and Twitter today. Go us! |

14. 4 bunnies and now a cat http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: This weekend was kind of exciting around the Gillin house. It appears we now have a cat. We think it's a girl kitten and we've named her Bandit. And she's as sweet as can be -- affectionate and playful. She likes me a lot more than Paul right now because Paul tried to pick her up the first time he petted her. I think she felt a little threatened. She's beautiful, too... ![]() ![]() Too bad I'm so allergic; I'd have her at the vet and in the house in no time if I wasn't. As it is, she hides out in our next door neighbor's garage (which is open) during the day and comes over for attention and pets and food. Day One was Saturday and she got 2 cans of tuna fish. Then on Sunday, Paul bought her some kitty food, so we put some of that in a dish every night. And there's a dish of water out there waiting for her whenever she wants it. She's been known to lay on our driveway and on our porch. ![]() ![]() If anyone in Framingham wants to give this kitty a good home, email me! ![]() ![]() |

15. MediaBlather, here we come http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (audio/mpeg, 7.40Mb) Description: I'm the producer of Paul and David Strom's weekly podcast, Mediablather. And about a week and a half ago, Dave came to our neck of the woods and had dinner at our house. We decided to record a Mediablather that night. Keep in mind, we had plenty of good food and good wine. We're not sure what happened to the sound, but I hope you enjoy it anyway! |

16. Why I call them bunnies and not rabbits http://www.bunnyblab.com/2006/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: Paul asked me a while ago, "Why do you call them bunnies and not rabbits?" Interesting question... Rabbits are bigger. Even SweetPea, who tops out about 7 pounds now (huge next to her 2- to 4-pound siblings), is a bunny. The big 'uns are like Flemish Giants. They're rabbits. Mr. or Mrs. Rabbit if you don't want them to sit on you. The little guys are just bunnies. However, when I talk to non-bunny people, I make sure to specify "house rabbits" to emphasize the indoor quality of their domicile. Do you call your house rabbits "bunnies" or "rabbits"? |

17. Mesmerizing bunny video http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: Watch bunnies hop. Keep watching. Don't stop watching.... This 8 minutes of video is somehow captivating. I think it's because of the music loop. But also, these bunnies are just too damn cute. It's like a family of SweetPeas! I just hope they don't all have her Lil' Miss Thang attitude! And be sure to check out RabbitHouses.net, as they're the wonderful structures seen in the video. Does anyone have one? Comment and let me know how you like it. |

18. Carpet cleaners for pet stains http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: If you have bunnies on any type of carpet, even the most litter-trained bunny in the world will make a mistake or two. Especially if/when you change their environment. Even a "misplaced" food or water dish may send your bunnies peeing out of the box (which is nowhere as good as thinking out of the box). For bunny pee stains, I love Spot Shot. But it's a bit expensive when you buy it in quantity. Also, it's a spray bottle, so you never get as much as you think you will.So I've used a lot of white vinegar, which is what I use to clean litter boxes. Vinegar is the miracle cleaner -- it dissolves bunny pee (and whatever other stain/dirty spot you have in your house) like magic with a few minutes of soaking. On my recent shopping excursion to Stateline Pet Supply store in Plaistow, NH (about an hour from my house, but WELL WORTH the trip in savings, even with $4/gallon gas) this past weekend, I found Nature's Miracle Stain and Odor Remover. Stateline is a great store -- big 50L bags of Carefresh are $14.99 instead of $21 at, well, anywhere else. At any rate, they had a display of Nature's Miracle. I bought a quart bottle of it for $5.49. "It's worth it if it works," I thought. Fast forward to tonight -- and my decision to buy it by the gallon next time I'm at Stateline. Nuff said.If you have access to this cleaner by you, pick some up. It's magic for bunny carpet stains. And it's crazy quick. Soak the rug with it, full strength, wait anywhere from 2-5 minutes (and this is for set in stains!), and rub it out. Voila. Stain gone. |

19. Paw Luxury http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: Paw Luxury makes me want to get a little bunny-friendly dog. One that doesn't shed, of course. (We have enough fur flying around from the lagamorphs, thank you very much!) Maybe a cockapoo or a schnoodle. Ah, a girl can dream, can't she? Organic/earth-friendly doggie goodies. 22. Sierra Club Quiz: How Green is my Getaway? http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: The Sierra Club, one of the several environmental and wildlife organizations to which I am a proud member, has posted a series of quizzes entitled How Green is my _____? I just took the How Green is my Getaway quiz. What I like about the quizzes is that they're entertainingly phrased. Like this question: "Does it really matter whether I take a plane or train or drive? That plane's going to fly even if I'm not on it." Also, some people just don't like taking quizzes, but they want the educational meat. For them, you can always jump to the answers. Here's the answer list (complete with educational explanations, of course) for the getaway quiz. Comment and post your quiz results! My getaway quiz results: 90%. I have to say, though, that I mostly made educated guesses on these. Try for yourself and tell me how you did! If you're lazy and want all the quizzes in one shot, here they are:

23. Angry Alien http://www.bunnyblab.com/2008/... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: It turns out the alien's not so angry at all. He's rather funny. And he likes using bunnies in 30-second cartoon re-enactments of famous movies. If you haven't checked him out (or if you haven't seen the new movies), get thee to Angry Alien and watch the movies you've been missing. (To all the people who have let me know about Angry Alien over the past year or two, yes, I've known about them for a looooooong time now, but just haven't posted about them. I have no idea why. Angry Alien's a source of wonderment and fun. Don't miss Th e Shining, which is one of my all-time faves.) NOTE: Some of the short movies are more graphic -- it IS a cartoon, after all -- than the original movies, so be careful letting the kids watch. |
