http://faithanddoubt.blogspot.... download (audio/mpeg, 17.03Mb)

Description: Episode 6 - Hope and Joy

In the past couple of months, my family has needed to cling to hope more than ever. But where does it come from? Is joy related? Are either even attainable? When we get them (or if), what happens?

Also, my best Christmas present from my Uncle Buzz.

Description: Hi everybody! Sorry for the LOOOONG delay between podcasts - we've had some major changes in life and my podcasting time has been squashed. I hope to get back into a 1x/week rhythm again next week.

3. QFD Episode 5 - God On Our Side
http://faithanddoubt.blogspot.... download (audio/mpeg, 14.44Mb)

Description: Episode 5 - God On Our Side

Should we beware of identifying God's politics too closely with our own? Is God on our side, or their side? Or...

Biblical stories: Joshua 5:13-15 and Mark 9:39-40

In case you're wondering about my politics, in the last 4 US Presidential elections I've voted for people on the Republican, Democrat and Libertarian parties. I'm all over the map :-) I believe that Christians can vote Republican or Democrat or Libertarian or even Green. I STRONGLY believe that people should exercise their faith in the political realm, but I think it's helpful to see that we're following God; He's not following our political ideologies.

And that works beyond the political realm as well.

Happy Veterans' Day! To all those who have served in the armed forces, thank you for your sacrifice. To those in the military now (including my brother-in-law Mike), our prayers are with you. Thank you for serving at such a difficult time.

4. QFD Episode 4 - Dealing with Tragedy
http://faithanddoubt.blogspot.... download (audio/mpeg, 10.99Mb)

Description: Episode 4: Dealing with Tragedy

How do we deal with tragedy? What can we do when there are no simple, easy answers?

Sorry about the delays between these past two podcasts. We've had some family crises pop up which needed attention. Thanks for your patience!

Also, my deep thanks to those of you who are listening, and who have also sent me emails and feedback. That makes my day!

5. QFD Episode 3 - Who Do You Say I Am?
http://faithanddoubt.blogspot.... download (, 0.00Mb)

Description: Episode 3: Who Do You Say I Am?

Some of the most interesting questions to ask are about identity: Who are you? Who am I? How do we relate to each other? Jesus asked a pretty good one like this one time: "Who do you say I am?"

6. QFD Episode 2 - Jesus' Job
http://faithanddoubt.blogspot.... download (, 0.00Mb)

Description: Episode 2: Jesus' Job.

Isn’t it weird how people become more and more similar to their job description? Let's look at Jesus' understanding of his own job, and how that might impact us.

(Sorry about the wind noise bleeding in - I recorded this one in the alley behind my local coffee shop. I'll find a better place next time..)

7. QFD Episode 1 - I believe and I doubt
http://faithanddoubt.blogspot.... download (, 0.00Mb)

Description: Here's episode 1 - quite a bit longer than I had hoped, but I figured it would be good to get a real episode up sooner rather than re-recording and releasing it later. I hope that future episodes are in the ~8-10min range.

Our topic for today is: Can faith and doubt coexist? Are or is the whole thesis of this podcast an oxymoron? What is faith; what is doubt; and where do they come from? Does doubt have a purpose?

Download this podcast directly: Episode 1 (mp3) 20:36, 18.9MB, or you can subscribe to the podcast feed by going to our Feedburner feed and selecting from the options there.

Biblical story: Mark 9:17-27 (I'm reading from the TNIV version this time around).

Description: Many podcasts will use music from Pod Safe Music Network.

I'm pretty sure that the genesis of the idea for what is becoming QFD came form an off-handed comment on a Radical Congruency podcast, lamenting the fact that no emerging church podcasts were dealing with Scripture. I'm not sure which podcast that came from, but here's a link to the whole podcast category at RC, and a link to the Radical Congruency blog.

And finally, my favorite weblog dealing with Christianity is Wired Jesus. I strongly recommend subscribing, and also going back to listen to Episodes #14 and #15, in which Wired Jesus reflects upon a long and deeply personal podcast at the Evil Genius Chronicles about the loss of faith. I believe all Christians would benefit from listening to those podcasts.

10. What is a Podcast?
http://faithanddoubt.blogspot.... download (, 0.00Mb)

Description: If you're not yet familiar with podcasting, hopefully this little ditty will help clear things up for you.

A podcast is a term that describes publishing audio or video programs on the Internet. Think of it as public access television with broader distribution, and more frequently as audio clips. Here's what Wikipedia has to say in describing podcasts.

Podcasts can be listened to by simply clicking on the web link to the audio file - in this blog, you'll find that the blog entry title is clickable. That downloads the file to your computer, and you can listen directly to the episode.

Or, you can use a podcasting client - iPodder is one choice; iTunes is another - which will automatically check for and then download new episodes, and optionally synch them to your portable MP3 devide (iPod, etc). In this podcast, you can click through to our Feedburner feed, and on the right side column you'll see several subscription options. Pick the ones that best suit your needs.

I hope that helps answer some questions and get you started. Enjoy!
