1. Rush Through PIPA, Promising To Study DNS Blocking… Later?!? http://feedproxy.google.com/~r... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: Mike Masnick over at Techdirt has a piece on the latest tactic by Senator Leahy. He is trying to rush PIPA through by proposing an amendment to forego enacting the “DNS blocking” privilege pending a study on the effects it would have. Right… In other words, pass the bill now… then wait until all the furor dies down… and then we turn on the DNS blocking provisions when no one’s paying attention. This is just nasty politics. It’s an attempt to ram through everything while pretending to listen to constituent concerns. This lets Leahy and PIPA/SOPA supporters pretend that DNS blocking is no longer an issue in the bill… get the bill approved… and then figure out some way to turn them on later. Ridiculous. I couldn’t have said it better…Ridiculous. |

2. 5MB Hard Disk Drive, 1956 http://feedproxy.google.com/~r... download (, 0.00Mb) Description: These days I carry around a 64GB drive in my pocket. It’s the size of a pack of gum. ‘In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first ‘SUPER’ computer with a hard disk drive (HDD). The HDD weighed over a ton and stored 5 MB of data.’ |
