2. Save Point, Season 2, Episode 5 http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 27.64Mb) Description: Words simply cannot express my apologies. Jon and I recorded this something like 2 weeks ago, and I have quite honestly been lax in my duties. Even having edited and completed conversion of the show, I neglected to FTP it, or put anything up here to denote the fact that my laziness knows no boundries. No more! So much to say, and I found a break in my day to discuss topics that we didn't talk about in the show, but nonetheless, I must speak! First of all, curse the Blue Shell. Curse it to all damnation. We have been dealing with MarioKart's rubber-band AI for quite some time now. Since nearly the beginning, I remember when I played the original on the SNES. It was an unkind game. The AI was tenacious and cruel, and they all had character specific items(ones that you can never use, for one reason or another) that they could throw at any time. Add to that the fact that no matter how fast you go, someone will top your top speed and then slow once they pass you, and you have the start of a broken AI system, or at least something designed to frustrate. It has not been improved with age. You still cannot get anywhere near pole position without being immediately bombarded by one million and one objects that were built solely for the destruction of whoever is above 6th place. Lighting Bolts, Blue Shells, Squids, a veritable plethora of shells, of the red variety. Cats and dogs, living together...mass hysteria! It's just really annoying. for me, it kind of exemplifies what the Wii is trying to do, that is, include more people by making the playing field more even. Give the people who aren't as good a helping hand, and they'll be not only better players sooner, but they'll also be ingrained into the franchise. However, this is where they begin to alienate people like me, or rather, people who have the audacity to try and learn the nuances and mechanics of a game in order to be better at it. Heaven forbid that someone who is better at a game, or someone who actually tries to win actually be rewarded! Poppycock! Not only does it piss gamer types off, but it pisses off people with the potential to be gamer types. Take my girlfriend for example. We went through, got her really good, spent time honing her skills in 100cc. But the minute she goes into 150, or online?! She get's completely smoked, as do I, because we want to win. The game makes it so that people who aren't as good are given vast riches, while we (the good ones) are left out in the cold. Is it just me? Some people claim to have been able to dodge the infernal blue shell, but upon closer inspection, all of these instances were merely luck, like when one of the players is launched out a cannon, and nothing in the game can hit you. Anyways, I could go on about it, but it vexes me, and no more need be said. In the game's defense, the online (usually) works like a dream, and if it happens to disconnect you in a race, it rewards you, showering you online points, although god knows what they're actually good for. Other things that I have played: Finally beat The World Ends With You. What an incredible journey. Awesome storytelling, tutorials that are kind and explain the distinct stylings of the combat and menus succinctly. Combat that is initiated when you want it to be, a two screen battle system, an art style that will kick your ass. There is a lengthly list of quests and tasks to be taken care of, upon completion of the main quest, which will unlock further "reports" that clue the player in on all the background of the story and ties up unanswered questions. I could go on and on, but that's enough, the podcast will say how much I love it. Best RPG of the last few years for me, up there with the greats (Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana). I can only hope that they come bring themselves to make a sequel, and I mean come on. There's like forty final fantasies, including remakes and offshoots(tactics, CC). I'm sure they can fit some time in for "The World Begins with You" or "The World Ends With Everyone" or whatever. Speed Racer was an awesome movie, go see it. If you love cartoons, sillyness, and special effects that forcefully molest your mind (in a gentle, loving way) the it's right up your alley. Endless Ocean...........The beautiful melodies of those songs continue to haunt me. It was a wonderful game, for all my passive raging against the idea that a game is, in fact, not a game. It defied my expectations. My greatest qualm about the game is that it was not goddamned endless. I played it for twenty minutes in my first session, and then Six and one half HOURS the next. It was a relaxing, wonderful experience. I kept obsessing over this horrendously deep chasm in the middle of the map, known only as "deep valley". After a couple of menial tasks and tour jobs, I was given a new air mixture to test how deep I could dive. I became elated, because I was finally able to explore the dark catacombs of the dark valley, which even played scary music when I got close. Once I was down there it all became dark, a beautiful melodic male and female chorus begain haling my efforts. I had only a small light. After 2 minutes of diving straight down into the murky abyss, passing all manner of strange deep sea life, I was starting to see the bottom. When I finally did, huge undersea fish, sharks, squids slowly swam back to their cave as my lights shone on them. As the cavernous unknown, with a veritable treasure trove of fossils and crystals came into view, the chorus quietly playing in the background exploded to life, reaching crescendo as I explored the vast darkness surrounding me. I know it sounds corny. But the game....it's chock full of "had to be there" moments. It's deserves a rental, at the least. It could easily be beaten by someone like me (and was, as it happens) in around 6 or 7 hours. Now off I go. There's a gaming milestone waiting to be shattered by me, something that's been waiting a long time.... -T out Sarge will destroy you |

3. Save Point, Season 2, Episode 4.5 http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 11.16Mb) Description: Well, Jon and I can't seem to assemble a simple few minutes at present to complete a show all our own, so I decided to re-try (with the new rig) the recording process that we had attempted so long ago. That is, Aya and I are heading this one. After having a lot of time to sink into Brawl, I have to say I have enjoyed the experience. I still think the one player mode is sort of silly, although the cutscenes are really something. I was surprised at how quickly I got over classic mode. Usually that holds the most meat for me, but not anymore. Actually, most of my time has been spent playing with Aya or by myself in the aptly titled "Brawl" mode, in which you basically just fight perpetually without rhyme or reason. I was also a little discouraged at how little the side modes held my attention, namely the homerun contest, 100 man brawl, etc. These are usually things that I really sink my teeth into, but I just don't care. I'm not saying they are bad, just that it's not what I'm really into at the moment. I have the pleasure of playing online a bit lately, and I have to say it's a filthy disappointment. NOW----Before I am drawn, quartered, and then fed to ravenous wolves I will say that friend brawling works just fine, like 60 percent of the time. The Brawl with anyone is a broken mess, at least for me. I will wait for upwards of ten minutes for other people to join. After which I get kicked back to the main menu, not the main WI-FI menu, but the first one. Like it spanks me so hard, I fly off the fucking internet. Now, I know, I know, like, for sure, that other people are playing. SSBB is sort of a big deal, so I hear. But I wouldn't know it. I have played a single match, match one, with non friend gamers. And it was so lag-ridden that the gameplay was obliterated, and instead, we were treated to a very special SSBB online slideshow. But I can spectate matches instantly. Before people attack my internet connection, I don't think that's what it is, most of my stuff(my downloads updates, MSN shit) run better than good. Some bullshit about 85010 or something. Anyone else getting this? Anyhow, I had the opportunity to play last night (and a few nights ago, additionally) with Ea (Jon's GF) and one of my fellows castmembers of Grease, and we had very little trouble. That is to say, apparently I'm fairly good at the game. I had worried that I would lose friends (In the context of Brawl), due to my mercilessness and tendency to taunt whenever I score a kill, which then I explained Aya. Turned out that was a bad idea. As soon as she went online she then proceeded to basically let people win because she was afraid to digitally strike someone else, worried about the far reaching social repercussions. Other things: MarioKart will come out at the end of this month, accompanied by that insipid wheel, unless they decide to push the date it hits back. If you have a DS, get Ninja Gaiden. Chances are, you already have. It's near flawless in execution, although it was a bit short. Honestly, pushing the DS that hard graphically and sonically, I can see how there would be very little room for anything else on that tiny cart. The AI is devilish on the higher difficulties, however, and I, having died perhaps once on normal, near the end, have died five times in the first battle in the"Head Ninja" mode. The latter is definitely the Ninja Gaiden that I am used to. Hopefully, DangerJon and I will be able to set aside some time soon enough to get back to the regular flow of things. Within the next week, I would wager, you could start looking for brand new content. -T out I reach out and I touch your hair, but it cuts me like a knife |

4. Save Point, Season 2, Episode 4 http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 25.47Mb) Description: Well, we return, battle hardened veterans that will continue to bring hits, whether you like it or not. I have to apologize for the lack of any sort of consistency in these last few weeks, as far as shows are concerned. I won't go out of my way to explain it here, as we discuss the reasons extensively in the show proper. It just seems like it's impossible for nothing to go horrendously wrong each week. As mentioned in the show, Smash Brothers was dropping. Directly after the show ended, Jon and myself hightailed it over to our local Gameslop to pick up some copies. I had put the order down long ago, but Jon managed to get one on the spot, lucky bastard. The game is great, as you would expect, in the face of multiple delays and apparent issues with people's Wiis being little bitches. Whatever that case may be, I haven't had a single software problem with that game yet, except for the fact that there's not enough time in my day to play the fucking thing. Well, there is one hitch, and that is the Subspace...whatever the shit it is. HAL has proven one thing with that broken excuse for a one player campaign. That, is if you take the gameplay mechanics of SSB out of a set fighting genre, the fucking thing breaks. The fluid, slippery control you expect from a great fighting game like that simply cannot translate to a platforming template. There really is no reason to have the one player mode there. The game is made to be multiplayer. If you want to play by yourself, there's the arcade mode, or the "Get as many fucking trophies as you can" mode, for OCD freaks (I'm one of them). Basically, there's just no place for the Subspace mode. I guess HAL felt like they wanted to give us context for why these warriors are fighting each other, the deep dark mysteries surrounding why in the fuck the Shock Rat would be teaming up Zero Suit Smaus. But you know what? I don't care. The only thng important to me when I play the SSB games is the same reason the game sells so well. That is, we want to play DK versus Peach, or Bowser versus Link. That's why we play the fucking game. It started out as fan service, and that's all it should be, in my opinion. We don't need a story penned by a Final Fantasy prick. Shouldn't he be off, you know, writing epic tales of sexism or something? Besides, the only thing that matters is Sonic. I digress, however. The point is, Brawl is awesome and it's a must have for the Wii. But for the love of God, don't play with the Wii remote setup, it's a crime against life itself. The gamecube controller method works out just fine anyway. You can even use the Wavebird. In other news, Nintendo thinks they're going to enter the online pay fray with the soon to be released "Wii Pay and Play" service. Where, I assume, paying and playing take the forefront. From Kotaku: "Aoyama(Nintendo Guy) explained that Nintendo will begin 'collecting fees for some services [that] will allow us to adapt flexibly.' In other words, by subsidizing additional, unnamed service and feature costs to consumers, Nintendo feels they can explore new concepts and channels." By saying "adapting flexibly" They mean "If people give us more money, we can do more shit! We won't have to settle for dime hookers and plastic bottle vodka any more!" We talk about it in the show, and I launch into multiple(I think plausible!) conspiracy theories about the service. I don't know, that name reeks of arcade ideas. "A quarter per online round! don't pay if you don't play hur hur hur". Whatever slack-jawed fresh out of grad school junk-sluts with majors in PR bullshit think that charging us for a service that already blows is a good idea, they can go to hell. That's enough out of me. If anyone wants to drop some Brawl friend codes, please do. I know that DangerJon and I will be more than happy to take you to the school of FINAL SMASH knocks. I'm training my girlfriend to play as well. She's actually a martial artist in real life, so I imagine the time when she becomes a full blown killing machine capable of incredible human injustice in Brawl can't be far off. -T out When your wind up gears...stop grinding |

6. Save Point: Season 2, Episode 3 http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 27.55Mb) Description: Hello there everyone. Again we return, blazing with glory as we bring number three in our series of wonder. There was a major problem near the end of the recording. But to be more specific, let me explain how we engage in this process. Normally, I will go to DangerJon's house, then I record on my computer, and he records on his. He then sends me his part of the file, and I compile them and take care of any audio artifacts, add music, etc. After editing the show, making sure all problems had be excumed, and went to bed. Upon rising in the morn, I found that, I can only say magically, my part of the file had simply vanished. It was no where to be found, not in Garageband, not in iTunes, not anywhere. Fortunately, you only miss a few minutes of us ending the show. I added something at the end so that it isn't just over out of the blue. However, all of that being said, I think that this is probably my favorite episode that we have recorded, since the inception of this podcast. Also, as described in the show, I have links for you! These are the Ghostbusters Pics for the Wii that we had mentioned. Delectable to be sure, although the hype that I have already invented in my mind has far overshadowed anything that Sierra could possibly hope to deliver. I hate Nintendo! They constantly upset me! This is the GameTrailers page for all the Soul Calibur stuff , including the delicious content we discuss in the show. At least they aren't using fucking Spawn this time. This is the comic on Penny Arcade that we talked about, but sadly I couldn't find the interview that we were quoting from. I don't think it really matters much, since we covered everything the interview had to say on the subject. And finally. Endless Ocean! This game is so strange, I don't know how to describe it. I do attempt to do so in the show, but seeing the video review is really what kind of turned me on(and might turn you guys on) to the whole idea. The Wii is basically made for games like this, but I'm not sure this game in particular is something that should define the console in their tragically incohesive "casual gamers" software strategy.. Of course, it's always nice to know that someone is doing this sort of important work. Other things that I think that you guys should know about... No More Heroes it pretty damn cool. I'm not sure if it has more than that going for it though. The idea is that you're trying to climb this ranking of assassins by killing your way through them. Actually, every review you will read is right on the money. Style? Got it. Writing? Brilliant. Characters? A joy to experience, especially the leading man, Travis Touchdown, who has some smartass immature response to just about everything asked of him. He's an otaku, and right off the bat that's funny to me. But the overworld is horrible, and worse, it's useless. You have to make money to enter yourself for a chance to fight an assassin. In order to make enough, you must do jobs. You have to go somewhere to get the jobs, and then drive to the job location. if you fail, you have to go back, get the job again, and then go back to the job location. What a waste of fucking time that is. And there's popup, the control of the bike blows, and the city is nearly fucking empty. But all that is not enough to beat the style. A lot of the sound effects are 8 bit, very nintendo-esque, and the blood when you kill someone. The shower of blood! And c'mon, Travis wins his beam katana in an internet auction for fuck's sake. Another one I played lately was Assassin' Creed for the DS. It's good like fries without ketchup. It's good, but it could have been so much better. Lastly, I can't let you go without saying something about Professor Layton .It seems cool, and it's coming in a few days. My girlfriend has played the shit out of the japanese version, and she swears by it. Whoo. I have rambled quite enough. Great tears leaping from her eyes |

7. Save Point: Season 2, Episode 2.5 http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 16.18Mb) Description: Bringing you the nizzle(news) is my bizzle(business?). As promised, here is the in-betweener episode. Also, I understand that the "In-Betweener" is some sort of Marvel Character. I don't know. In this brief episode (something like 17 and one half minutes) I go over a few subjects all on my lonesome. Actually, that isn't quite accurate. My cat was there, and every once in a while, as you're apt to notice, I'll sort of trail off, and go "uuuuhh....." And then audibly mumble before struggling to regain my derailed train of thought. Usually this is because the cat was staring at me, and I sort of became lost in its hypnotic gaze. Expect content from us again in at the same time we usually promise it to you, and enjoy. -Tris out Unsteamed windows I can see though |

8. Save Point, Season 2, Episode 2 http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 56.10Mb) Description: Here we are again, bringing you the content, and the continuity, that you, the customer, demands. I apologize for the show being a day late, but in the last week school began and whatnot, and the rushing torrent of responsibilities accompanied by my educational commitment caught me off guard. It won't happen again, I assure you. I also apologize for the lack of intro/outro in this one. In ym haste to get the show up (albiet late) I didn't remember to attach those files. Perhaps next time. Since last week, an innumerable amount of events have occurred, which all call into question what the fuck parents' jobs actually are these days. The thing we discuss in the show is the shit from townhall.com, where a stupid old bastard tries to tear down Mass Effect because it's something like an orgasmatron. I'm sure you can guess at the sinister purpose of a machine with such a moniker. I don't know, I don't really need this sort of shit to be part of my life. It's so infuriating. People like this really don't deserve to live, much less talk about games or any other media in this way.It would be like me talking about trying to build a pizza oven/clothes washer combo. I know it's a terrible idea, (or maybe it isn't!), but I don't know anything about building it, or the people who built it, or why they would build it, or the people who would use the fucking thing. I simply have nothing to say on the subject of pizza oven/clothes washer combos! Additionally, there was another....event this week, that has a lot to do with Mass Effect, and the flippantly stupid shitheads at Fox News. Actually, I plan to post another small piece here in a couple of days to make more sense of it, among other things that need clarification(in my opinion!). Moving on, I still don't believe in the PS3. Its shit is coming, and yet it still just hasn't grabbed me in any way. I have never enjoyed their business practice, since the moment they launched that fucking monstrosity("All I need for christmas is a PSP", "ThreeSpeech". I'm not saying people shouldn't like it, or that it is not capable of wonderful things, but I'm simply not interested. I have nothing to play now, since Super Smash Brothers has been pushed back until march. Perhpas If they would stop fucking adding characters, they might have been able to complete the goddamn product last year. Not only that, but they say there will not be enough copies to meet demand. What the fuck. You're telling me you can't make enough copies. I can go to my local walmart and pick up 1000 CDs for like 100 bucks. It's way cheaper wholesale. What's the problem. How can you not burn enough copies?! That's insipid. Nintendo is treading dangerous ground. Not one of their 1st party blockbusters (Mario, Metroid, or Zelda) was on time, sure they were great, but worth multiple delays? Probably every place that is taking pre-orders is going to be way behind in the aforesaid orders, I even believe that my gamestop had to stop taking them, because we may not even have more than 400, which is the amount of pre-orders we took. Nintendo is bringing the bullshit, and they're really starting to piss me off. I don't know if I'm the only one, or whatever. But c'mon! I put down 52.99(USD) for that fucking game, something that Nintendo endorses (I mean pre-orders), having multiple contacts in gaming store chains. You're telling me that after I happily gave you my money, which I worked hard for, you wont be able to give me the fucking game on the day you promised me? You're not even sure if there's going to be enough games for me to even GET one when it finally fucking releases? Jesus Jump Up Christ. I understand that games now need more development time, since there's a lot more code, and it is far more complex or sourcelationzorz, or whatever. But you have had two years now. Stop making us wait, and deliver your fucking product on time. That said, it's just a game, and I can be patient. Somewhat. There have been people trying to compare Cloverfield to Blair Witch Project, as well. I'll get to them later. As I said, there will (hopefully!) be a small recording I will do in the next couple of days ranting about all the shit that be pissing the brother off this past month or so. Enjoy the show, and keep an eye for smaller content in the next couple of days. -Tris out Rob...Rob...Rob...I saw it..I saw it! Rob, it's alive-- |

9. Save Point RETURNS, Season 2, Episode 1!!! http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 97.53Mb) Description: Here we are again. It took far longer than either myself or DangerJon consider appropriate, but we hope you, the listenership, will find it in your hearts to forgive our monumental transgressions. It has been quite a lot time since our last transmission, and we have made up for it with an hour and a half special extravaganza. I hope that a lot of you will not be really bothered by the musical theme I used for the intro, don't worry, it's not staying, but it is from the most excellent anime Death Note, which you should certainly treat yourself to, should you be a fan of the medium. Since the recording of this show, Jon made another gigantic purchase, one that I will continue to call into question, even now, as I watch that purchase being played as I type this. I will leave him to regail you of his financial exploits, sometime in the future. I have little to nothing to say about anything next generation gaming, simply because I'm not really taking part in it. I have a Wii, a DS, and a Mac(Hilarious!) The Wii is nice, it's good, I will give Nintendo that. The fact is, is that I equate both memory and graphical power to the total awesomeness of a console. The Wii still needs time, but they're beginning to get things right. Super Mario Galaxy is both majestic and wonderful, and must be played in order to be believed. I simply won't talk about it here, because if you love yourself, and also have a Wii, then you already know that you must have it, or perhaps you already do. You know that I'm already caught deep within the wonder of Metroid Prime 3:Corruption, so I won't even discuss it. You'll hear about it in the show anyways, also you will hear about yoinking, if I may be so bold. Trauma Center: New Blood is also good, but for a single player, the game is simply impossible. Playing with another person is absolutely essential. There are missions where there is just not enough time to do anything, and you feel guilty about losing your patient because you don't have 4 hands, and the feats it politely orders you to accomplish would require you to train some sort of woodland animal to operate the adrenaline syringe while you do everything fucking else. Also, this show contains explicit language, nothing seriously bad, I just couldn't stop myself from swearing from time to time, and I'm honestly far too lazy to go back and cover it all up. As long as you're over the age of 9, it shouldn't bother you. Keep and eye on the site, as Jon mentioned, we may put up small things if we have stuff to say. Enjoy the show, and we'll see you in two weeks time. -Tristan(MMS)out Down and mean, boy, down and mean |

12. Episode 10: Franchises (Part 1 - Mario) http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 62.14Mb) Description: My god. If we keep up this kind of reliable continuity, there might be something wrong with us. Again, we bring you the content, the glorious tidbits of information related to gaming news and/or history, as is our promise to you, the customer. While we had little to say in terms of things that are being released now ,as you will discover in the show there is much to say in terms of gaming stuffsez historically. In this particluar episode, we discuss Mario Mario, as I believe that unsettlingly happy little man has been titled. I did purchase Sonic and the Secret Rings, (actually I treded FFIII for it, because that game had begun to infuriate me) which I do not believe was a bad idea, however flawed my judgement may be. Due to not only my extraordinary love for the Blue Blur, but also the company who created him, no matter how many times they decide to anally violate me (and it continues!)< /a> and my financial situation. The Sega Saturn was not wholly a bad machine, but the idea that they could continue to squeeze zennies out of us by releasing add-on after add-on, each costing 150 dollars or more, after continued failed attempts at stealing the market from Mario and crew is something I have I have always abhorred. Secret Rings is good. The control is frustrating. This is something that I cannot seem to get past. The game itself is amazing, but there are points later in the game where you are going so fast and the level is passing by so quickly, essentially you feel out of control. I have a new feature this week! With any luck this will become a feature as part of this posting station, as I do so enjoy sharing odd things with you, our poor listeners. This is STRANGE linkage. This week! Mr. Lee is pregnant! *shudder* One final mention. Yesterday, as I was exiting the shower, I happened to wear a pair of boxers on my head. Yes, my head, not my loins, as is the custom. No, they took up residence on my head of all places. It was then that I saw my mother's biology book lying open and unnattended on the kitchen table. The page that was open was entitled "Uninary Energy". !!! The last puzzle peice of destiny fell into place when my my girlfriend remarked that I looked somehwat like a nun. A nun, I ask you! It was at this time that I put these things together and thought: "What if I was a Nun, who fought for justice...and (remember the uninary energy!) I could shoot a laser out of my Mr. winky. I think you know what that means. Beew beew! It would say. This story is completely true, these are things that actually took place, and thoughts of the super-heroics that I would have the oppurtunity to display in public are becoming hard to ignore. I would be........Captain Nun-derpants. -T Take two and call me in twenty years |

13. Episode 9: Again with the Nothings! http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 27.11Mb) Description: My goodness. Another show! How can this be?! Well. Again, we didn't really have a specific subject, so most of the things we discussed were things we found on Digg Gaming, which I find, outside of Kotaku , to be one of the best sources for gaming news. Sonic and the secret rings long gameplay video Oh my god. Oh my god. I can't describe how excited I am about this new Sonic game. It very well could be the beginnings of a new age of hedgehog wonder. After seeing the PS3 and 360 versions of Sonic recieve horrible scores, and after having played the exquisite Sonnic Rush on the DS (there might be a sequel coming!) the news that a brand new sonic is coming is tremendously good. Especially since Rush was so great, and nintendo is really interested in, you know, quality. For those of you who haven't played Trauama Center yet, you need to do yourself the favor, and pick up the Wii version (if applicable!) because it is an excellent game. It is still great even of you have already beaten the crap out of the DS version. The graphics are nothing special, and the sound serves the purpose that is intended, but the disc really trades on gameplay, as you might expect from a Wii title. 14. Episode 8: Nothing in Particular! http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 25.15Mb) Description: The show was actually recorded last week, in order for you to listen to it. However. Things happen, and the thing that happened was that my computer apparently found the file that me and DangerJon compiled so foul, so disgusting that iTunes was completely adverse to even using the damn thing. So! This is my excuse about why the show is a week late. On to better things! There is so much we wanted to say, but found nothing in particular to be more importnant than something else. I procured a new machine to call my own, and our own Dangerjon's girlfriend made a purchase for him that he is more than excited about. Here are some of the things we wanted to link: "Leaked" Next Gen (XBOX 360) Ghostbusters Game Footage Assassin's Creed Gameplay Dan Akroyd says new Ghostbusters movie! I found this tremendously horrible, and also demeaning on a number of levels. As if your Playstation Pornable wasn't bad enough (you kids and your hunger for booby pictures!). NOW! Your DS is a magnet for perverts and child molesters. Watch it, and be amazed that these people are the ones who makes the rest of the news, and who presume to be our seniors, and who say they know more about the world than we do. After you read that, check out the write up over at Penny Arcade , Watch the aforementioned video first, as the blog compliments it perfectly. Remind me if there is something else for me to link for you, for the simple reason that I will forget a task if it isn't stapled to my loins. Anyways, I leave you with a show, and the quasi-promise that more are forthcoming, if circumstance permits. I am also sorry that it took so long to come out with one. -T She never told me it was too late |

15. Episode 7: Sci-Fi! http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 28.42Mb) Description: We had a lot of things to go over this episode, and perhaps at this point I can see that we bit off quite a substantial amount of content. We do our best to entertain, even with prominent audio issues. You, the listenership, shall be the judge of our success or failure. The Wii continues to entertain. As I play more and more of the games, I find that the potential for gameplay with this console is rather limitless at the moment. One major issue I have with the Wii is most likely (or at least hopefully) one that I share with many other people. That is: I was bested last night. Bested at Elebits , which concers the blatant oppression of small creatures for the purpose of providing essential houshold objects with electricity, which the little bastards seem to create out of nothing. The thing is, I was beaten at this game. 5 times in a row, by a girl who has very little experience with this medium of entertainment. With the intorduction of the Wii, those people who we consider avid gamers, such as myself, are now no more than slightly overweight people with a penchant for bright colors and flashing lights. Gamers are now not alone, we have no skill, at least not within our own context. it has been stolen from us by the idiots and jocks who used to make fun of us and kick our asses in gym class. I'm mostly likely moving into 360 territory pretty soon here. This is the new Trek animated series we discussed, and this is the Star Wars next gen pre-render we mentioned. Both are exciting prospects. -T out And it's beginning to snow |

16. Episode 6: Video Game Movies! http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 28.85Mb) Description: If you could not tell, I was really tired during the recording of the show. I actually wanted to bitch a lot more than I I did. The problem with these.....adaptations is that the people who are making them have no idea. The have no clue what the original material even is! They have no idea! They have never played "one o' them computer games" in thier lifes! It would be like someone coming along, and writing a musical version of Star Wars, in which Luke is in fact a cat , and Han Solo (or Han Solette, clever, I know) is a ravishingly beautiful (yet adorabley pious) woman longing for a more active, religious life. BUM BUMBUUUUM!!! Until she meets with Boba Fett, in act two, and they fall madly in love. Sadly, however, Han is frozen, by the very person she lived for. In carbonite. To which Boba sings a lament and wraps up the act. Intermission. I could go on, but you get the idea. I wanted to write a much more invloved post, but I'm still tired. Also, Cranky Poppa has expressed some interest in doing his sements again, so we shall once again be subjected to his insane tirades! I can't wait. TM (MP) out |

17. Episode 5: T3h Christmas is Coming! http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 29.00Mb) Description: We're back, and we're bad. This episode concerns the purchasing of goods, goods meant to better the life of the purchasee. After having an extended period to get used to and enjoy Red Steele, I have been proved incorrect. The game is actually pretty fun, After we blocked off the very rays of the sun, which were entering through a wayward window, we seemed to be able to better send a signal to or recieve a signal from the machine. The sword fighting is clunkier than I would have liked, but the gun portions at least are extremely satisfying. The cutscenes are abysmal. I mean, the cutscenes in Tony Hawk's American Sk8land(clever!) for the DS are worlds better. They're just really bad. You can tell Ubisoft wanted to achieve some kind of style, albiet years old in terms of technology, but the end product is just bad. Being given a chance also to play ExiteTruck(god what a horrible name) I have decided and can agree with Jon, that the game itself is wonderful , that is to say, full of wonder. It is more than amazing, time and time again, to leap hundreds of feet into the air, only to come down perfectly, intiating a speed boost of irresponsibly unsafe scale, and then doing it again, almost instantaneously. Another great feature is a powerup they leave strewn about the course itself. It terramorphs(?) the ground right in front of you, and how. That is to say, maybe there isn't a lake in front of you. Well, after htting this powerup, there is now. I think the most thrilling one I saw occured when I was racing up an icy slope, and just before reaching the apex, managing to hit the powerup. This caused a small avalanche to occur, which made a snowy, makeshift ramp, which propelled me twice as far as I normally would have gone. This in turn sent me flying scores of hundreds of feet above the gaping maw of the Canadian mountains, where after sailing quietly for several seconds, I landed majestically amongst a forest of tall alpines, only for them to coyly beckon me toward my inevitable explosive demise. fa-la-la-la-la, fa-la la la, bitches TM (MP) out |

18. Episode 4: We're Wiiners! http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 27.85Mb) Description: Hey guys, thanks for waiting. We really enjoyed doing this show. It has a special place in our hearts, as it documents and describes the high holy event that is the release and subsequent enjoyment of the Wii console. The whole experience of actually using the machine is completely strange, almost alien to me. I think that because that machine has occupied the sort of "next-gen" or "coming soon" space of my mind for so long, that now that it is in fact palpable, and in front of my face, it takes on a whole new meaning. The thing almost disappointed me, becuase I had become so accustomed to waiting for it. As well as the fact that I slept through the day it launched on. That doesnt mean the machine itself is a failure, quite the contrary. The absoute thrill that is felt when playing that console is apparent. It takes a lot of thought and concentration for a game like, say, Marvel: UA , where the waving and useless flailing of arms is not just enjoyable, but necessary. Still, I think that getting used to that control is something I can sacrifice my time for. Nevertheless, it sadly feels like an afterthought. We all know about Red Steele , so I won't even mention it. Wii Sports plays amazingly, and I hope all other content that comes from 1st party developement shows the same level of polish. Even the Mii feature , which some of you must have read about, is astoundingly fun, and I'm amazed that DangerJon managed to get such a stunning likeness for himself. He even made one for me, anticipating my arrival, and I'm surpirsed he managed to contruct the vile avatar with his sanity intact, especially for one so alarmingly, almost sickeningly hideous as myself. 19. Episode 3: Online Gaming and Microtransactions http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 28.22Mb) Description: Ok. So there were problems. Problems with the audio. Basically I tested the whole sound setup a few times before we had begun our dark work, but it was all for naught. You get a show this week, albiet not on the same par as usual. I apologize for the poor sound, and I assure you that quality assurance will once again be in place next week. The people who make our video games hate us. The very notion that each and every time we purcahse a game, we will not be receiving a full version of said game is something I find utterly abhorrent. I payed for some stuff on Xbox live, yes, but it was content that augmented the game, rather than being needed either to play that game with other people, or to enjoy the game itself. It is disgusting, and I think we can all agree on that. There is no comic at the moment, and I don't know how long it will be until we get it, so I may just leave it for next week. (MP) T out |

20. Save Point Episode 2: Handhelds! http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 42.80Mb) Description: The Comic can be found here. This episode is long. In our defense, we had a lot of ground to cover, as well as having to wrap up the abuses that Sony continues to inflict on the gaming community. No links this time, as you can find pretty extensive histories on the wikipedia (of which there is a link to the right of this post) if you are so inclined. On handhelds: The love that Jon and myself have for the NDS(or "Nintendo Dual Screen", for those of you who have no idea) transcends most other experiences that we have had in Nintendo's history. It also makes me excited not only did I make the right purchase, but that it is also a significant savings over the other powerhouse on the market, the pusp, or "PSP" itself. I personally enjoyed the N64 almost as much, but I seem to be alone for the most part in that respect. The DS fills a new niche in my life every day, in terms of the entertainment value that it constantly provides. For goodness sakes, there's even a Star Trek tactics game coming out in a few days, over which I must change my pants daily, due to excessive soiling of myself. 21. Save Point Episode 1! http://savepoint.discovr.org/i... download (audio/mpeg, 31.28Mb) Description: Here it is! Episode 1 of Save Point, our brand-new game podcast, covering all the latest news and discussions coming out of the gaming world. It's hosted by me, Tristan, your favorite ex-host of the Sega RetroCast, plus an all-new co-host, my friend, and self proclaimed Nintendo fan boy, Jon. We'll be covering all the new game news coming out in the new show. The comic we promised is linked below. In this episode we tear apart the PLAYSTATION 3, and go into the other consoles involved in the rapidly ending race. The anger that I have for that machine should be apparent, and I hope that I am not only the only one unhappy with Sony's recent....transgressions. We'll see how the whole thing turns out. Sony declares preorder victory The PS3's online capabilities quantified! The Wiiconnect24 service Starting next week, I'll be writing extensive posts to compliment the show itself, and we'll have a more consistent structure. Tell your friends! EDIT: GAH! They have to say this right after I'm done posting the show. Anyways, Sony has more to say about the online service, by which I mean, they have less to say about it. It's doesn't have a F^*%ing name! Dear god. So here's another update. The comic is up! it concerns spirits, specifically Boo, and the implications, or rather, the blatant trickery that is employed as part of their typical gaming strategy. It's all done by my sister, as is the banner which has gone up to denote the fact that we indeed have a new show. She wanted you to know: Any and all art drawn and signed by Gwen Mathers that is on this page or linked to by this page is under legal copyright. It may not be copied, taken or used by ANYONE outside the author without her EXPRESS WRITTEN CONSENT. Please respect the art guys. She works hard on it, she's doing us a huge favor, and it would suck to lose her on the site. If you feel like you have to have it for one reason or another, send us an email about it and I can ask her. DON'T steal/take/borrow it otherwise, unless you have already asked, and thanks. Don't want to sound mean, but it's hard enough to make a living these days. ;) If you guys have stuff you really need to hear about in the show, let us know. Jon just brings the news. He is dedicated. He is the one who has found all these subsequent scrumptious news items for you. This one is about Sony (surprise) saying, esentially: "DUUUH! The blu-ray in the PS3 isn't for movies. You big dummy heads!" I'm going out on a limb and suggesting that Sony has lost their collective effing minds. The hits just keep on coming, as the kids say. Insults are so flaky (T) out. |
