1. Friday Night Blues and Beer #140 http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r... download (audio/mpeg, 29.56Mb) Description: The Beer: Say hello to a Special Ale 2007 (yearly Christmas ale) from the Anchor Brewing Company in San Fransisco, California. She pours a deep dark brown with a creamy tan head. Smells strongly of vanilla and tangerines with nutmeg topping it all off. The flavour is mostly roasted caramel with light citrus and spices but towards the finish you get a tongue full of tangy fruits. Pretty decent winter brew but the aftertaste isn't all you'd want it to be but it may be because of the age. Contains 5.5% alcohol and ran me $12 for a six. One thumb up but as always get a second opinion. Anchor Brewing Company Special Ale 2007 The Blues: Upbeat swinging jump gets the party started - Let's get it on: The Playlist: Wes Jeans (Too Late), A.C. Reed (Fast Food Annie), Phantom Blues Band (Barnyard Blues), Maynard Brothers Band (Used To Do Before), Sista Monica (Baby Workout!), Mojo Webb (The Burden), Rory Block (Peavine Blues), Coco Montoya (It Takes Time), Blue Largo (Five Ten Fifteen Hours), Steve Marriner (Plaything), Jan James (It's Over), Rockin' Highliners (Evenin), Sir Jay & His Blue Orchestra (My Baby's Decision), Mike Morgan and the Crawl (Cause I Love You), and Gwyn Ashton (Ain't My Style). 8. Friday Night Blues and Beer #139 http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r... download (audio/mpeg, 34.19Mb) Description: The Beer: Say hello to a limited edition of an IPA from the oak aged beer of Innis & Gunn. This bottle is one of of 68,000 so I figure I got myself something special. She comes in her own special box and once out in the open she pours a clear bronze with a mucho white head with short retention. The lace is minor. Smells of flowers and caramel and sweet citrus. Going down she is nothing like the India Pale Ales I've had in the past. Minor hops and instead of the expected bite you get a smooth and creamy vanilla flavour that caresses the tongue but it has a strong taste of oak with the reason being the stuff is apparently aged in oak casks. Good stuff boys and girls - contains 6.40% alcohol and ran me around $4.00 Canadian for a 330 ml bottle. Two thumbs up but as always get a second opinion. Innis & Gunn IPA The Blues: Sweet swinging soul with dashes of hard core modern delta. Let's get it on: The Playlist: Dutch Mason Blues Band (Bossman), Kid Andersen (You Ain't So Pretty No More), Soul Summit (What a Man), Little Milton (Baby Please), The Buicks (Perfect Woman), Big Jack Johnson And The Oilers (I Wanna Know), Duke Danger (Tuffer Than Tuff), Bobby Rush (Hoochie Man), Otis Grand (Just One More Time), Porky Cohen (Slidin' Horns), Dalton Reed (Blues Of The Month Club), Piney Brown (Got So Much Love), Frankie Lee (What's the Matter Baby), Jimmy Dawkins (Love Somebody), Roxy Perry (You Cried for Me), Monti Amundson (Six Shots), and David Gogo (Death Letter). 9. Friday Night Blues and Beer - Annual Christmas Special http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r... download (audio/mpeg, 27.50Mb) Description: The Beer: Say hello to the Urbock 23 from the Eggenberg brewery in Germany. She pours a beautiful clear gold with a clean white head that melts away to a minuscule lace. Smells of nuts and toffee with touches of floral hops. Across the tongue the alcohol bites you and is backed up with warm molasses and mild hops. She really warms the belly! Contains 9.6% alcohol and thanks to WL for the taste. Two thumbs up but as always get a second opinion. The Blues: Just getting it on with Christmas and this darn site - yeah baby: The Playlist: Mr. Vegas Man (Hey Santa), Mighty Blue Kings (Christmas Time), The E&E Blues Express (I'm Santa Claus), Automatic Slim and His Sensational Band (Frosty The Snowman), Little Charlie & The Nightcats (Santa Claus), Will Ray (Santa Cruizin), Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials (I'm Your Santa), Chick Willis (Santa Claus got the blues), Kenny Neal (Christmas Time In The Country), Roomful Of Blues (Run, Rudolph, Run), Chris Daniels & The Kings (Cool Yule), Koko Taylor (Merry Merry Christmas), Dr. Duke Tumatoe (She Give Me the Blues for Christmas), William Clarke (Please Let Me Be Your Santa Claus), Bluesman Willie & Da Boys (Merry Christmas Baby), and Tinsley Ellis (Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin').
