8. Slave Tool - VoiceIndigo
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r... download (audio/mpeg, 36.12Mb)

Description: Debi a.k.a. Mobile Jones interviews Peter K. Lee, CTO of VoiceIndigo about their service which provides the delivery of audio podcasts to mobile phones. VoiceIndigo also includes Podsense which connects advertisers to podcasts, and implements click-to-call revenue sharing and click-to-call connections to podcast feedback lines.

Nicole has been very busy lately helping to organize Podcastday 2006 in Cologne, Germany. It seems that one of the problems Peter and I discussed on simplifying listener interaction was discussed by a panel at the conference. If you are mobile when you listen, why would the answer be more PC browser tools? If podcasts work because they are time shifted why would real time call participation (Skypecast) be the answer? Think mobile! ...especially when the activity is mobile.

Media Slaves uses Voiceindigo and if our listeners have any feedback or experience to share it would be greatly appreciated.

12. Slave Tools - Techonrati, You're Hurting Us
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r... download (audio/mpeg, 38.52Mb)

Description: The Gillmor Gang's recent show from the Syndicate conference featured Amanda Congdon of Rocketboom, and Amanda stated that she uses Technorati "search by authority" to identify experts. This was an alarming statement, because the link-based search used by Technorati indicates popularity - not authority. Confusion on this point is something Media Slaves would to like help correct.

NOTE: We requested an audio clip from Steve Gillmor via the comments on his site, but our request was ignored.

Popularity promoted as authority or expertise is a disservice to the reader, as well as, for the publishers who are true experts but not winning the popularity contest.

19. Welcome to Media Slaves
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r... download (, 0.00Mb)

Description: Media Slaves is a roundtable podcast produced by Debi Jones, Zadi Diaz, Marianne Richmond and Nicole Simon.

We are taking on topics that arise when anyone and everyone can be a publisher, producer or media mogul.

The name Media Slaves comes from a mashup of the "slave generated content" label and social media. There are many if not all Web 2.0 companies and some communities that look at "user generated content" as their property. Merely a read of the TOS (Terms of Use) and EULAs (End User License Agreements) from corporate users of user generated content like Yahoo! proves that point. If we are preceived as free labor to companies, then we - as slaves, speaks to their desire to leave us out of the value chain and revenues. We are slaves because of our addiction to producing and consuming the many forms of conversational media.
