http://podvet.blogspot.com/200... download (, 0.00Mb)

Description:
Old PodVet is dead.
Long live new PodVet!

I am in the process of moving PodVet over to the newly aquired PodVet.com site. I have built a new, easier to use, nicer to look-at site which is now live at:

http://www.podvet.com/blogs

The new site allows you to listen to podcasts directly without having to subscribe - just click on the play button at the bottom of each posting.

So, what do YOU have to do to continue receiving PodVet content?

Update your bookmarks to the new address. To continue receiving podcasts - all you have to do is subscribe using the new feed address (which is http://podvet.com/blogs/?feed=rss2). If you use iTunes to subscribe to podcasts then just click on the iTunes button on the new website or just click here and hit the 'subscribe' button. (Once you have subscribed to the new podcast don't forget to unsubscribe from the old one!).
To receive email updates on new postings - just add your email address to the box on the right of the new website and hit the 'subscribe' button. I will continue to post entries and podcasts to both new and old sites for the next couple of weeks to make sure no-one gets lost.

I hope you enjoy the new PodVet. There will be new developments in the near future. Keep sending in the feedback. I am still waiting for the first bit of audio feedback / voicemail - what are you all afraid of- voice your opinions.

New show will appear over the weekend.

R.

6. PodVet 19: 17 February, 2006

Spaniel Diet (weighed last Thursday):

* Holly: 20.05kg

Very interesting interview with Andrew Knight.

Interview with Andrew Knight.
Andrew wanted to study veterinary medicine in order to be a better advocate for animal welfare. However, parts of the veterinary course required the use of animals that were specifically sourced just for practicals. Andrew didn't feel that these practicals were ethical and challenged the university. He won his case and has pioneered an alternative track for students who wish to conscientiously object to parts of their educational courses.
As well as working as a veterinarian in the UK, Andrew works with several animal welfare organistions on many projects, particularly regarding intensive farming techniques. He also promotes vegetarian companion animal diets.

7. PodVet 18: 10 February, 2006
http://podvet.blogspot.com/200... download (audio/x-mpeg, 8.15Mb)

Description:
Late Friday evening.
Friday was just one of those days where lots of extra things cropped up and I didn't get chance to do any of the things that I wanted to do (including a new PodVet episode). So rather than miss an episode I did a quick no-frills show from the sofa before going to bed. No mixer, no preamp, no good mic and no edits - just all one take. It wasn't too bad for my first 'live'' show. although I forgot to update you on the great Spaniel diet. You'll have to wait until the next show to find out if Ernie & Holly have lost any weight! I have some interesting phone interviews coming up next week so we might have more than one episode next week - it depends on my other commitments.
I hope you have a good weekend - keep the email & audio feedback coming in.

8. New PodVet Feature - Voice Mail
http://podvet.blogspot.com/200... download (, 0.00Mb)

Description:
Now you can leave us voicemail as well as sending us emails!

Just some of the many reasons to call us...
Just to say "Hi"...Tell us about yourself...Tell us where you are / what you do...Tell us what you like / hate about PodVet...Tell us about an interesting case you dealt with / saw / heard about...Ask a question...Hear yourself on the show...If we like it - we'll put it in the show.

So how do I leave a voicemail message?

If you have a computer with a microphone and an internet connection you can do it for free using the free Skype software. Skype is a free program that allows you to talk or text to other skype users anywhere in the world - for free! It is available for Mac/PC/Linux computers.
To download Skype, just click on the animated Skype banner at the bottom of this email. Once you have downloaded and configured Skype, all you have to do is click on the new button under my photo on the PodVet website - free and easy!

What if I don't have access to a computer or an internet connection?

Don't worry you can still leave voicemail via your regular telephone. Just call the number below.
From the UK dial: 0121 288 7711From outside the UK dial 0044 121 2887711 Then leave a message after the beep!

NOTE: THESE CALLS ARE NOT FREE. YOU WILL BE CHARGED YOUR NORMAL PHONE COMPANY RATE.
So from the UK this will be the cost of a regular national call and outside the UK it will be the cost of a regular international call.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE PERMISSION OF THE PERSON WHO PAYS THE BILL!

I look forward to hearing from you - literally!

Description:
Listener Survey
In relation to the development of PodVet, as discussed in PodVet 15, you're going to hear me talk about this in my podcast for the next couple months: We're taking a survey of our listeners, and we'd like you to participate. It will help us learn more about you - no matter how long you've been a listener or how frequently you listen to this podcast. So please take a few minutes to complete the survey. You'll find the listener survey link in the right-hand menu on the PodVet blog (as well as directly below this message) and you can complete the survey anonymously.
Thanks!

Description:
Abdominal Wall Tutorial
This is a 15 minute audio tutorial on the abdominal wall. As mentioned before, audio tutorials in anatomy have a limited value as anatomy is a very visual science. I hope you will find it useful as a preface or as revision. I would very much like to hear your feedback; did you find it useful, would you like more content like this.

Thanks to all those who have answered the call for content. Several people have started sending me material (many thanks and keep it up) and I'll have more for you towards the end of the week.

http://podvet.blogspot.com/200... download (video/x-m4v, 12.93Mb)

Description:

I'll have another audio podcast for you in the next couple of days but in the meantime I couldn't resist trying out the video podcasting capabilities of iTunes 6. I shot this video yesterday which was when our first years presented their projects. This was a thoroughly enjoyable affair for the staff as the quality was very high. There were posters, and models and radiographs and as usual I learnt a few new things myself. If you have any ideas about how we can usfully integrate video into the podvet podcasts then drop me a line at podvet@gmail.com. The music on the video is called 'There she goes' by Brother Love from the podsafe music network (http://music.podshow.com).

So to view this video you will need to download and install iTunes from the Apple site (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/). There are mac and windows versions. Once you have it installed you can then subscribe to the podvet podcast network by clicking on 'Advanced' in the top menu and choosing 'Subscribe to podcast' option. Then type in 'http://feeds.feedburner.com/podvet' and that's it! Whenever a new podvet episode is released it will be downloaded to your computer.

You can scroll down through the posts below. Clicking on the links to previous shows should open them up on your computer.
