7. 500lb TIGER GETS NEUTERED - Big Cat TV download (video/mpeg, 16.40Mb) Description: Watch as Big Cat Rescue staff and volunteers neuter TJ the tiger. TJ was rescued from Savage Kingdom that was a well known breeding facility producing what we call "throw away tigers" so many tigers are born lame and cross eyed from the inbreeding that's required in order to produce white tigers. Whilst we were neutering TJ we took the opportunity to do a full examination of him which included taking blood for analysis and giving him an I.D microchip. 9. Big Cat Rescue Night Tour! download (video/mpeg, 30.11Mb) Description: Imagine...It's the night of a full moon and you are groping through the underbrush in the wilds of a Florida forest when you hear the roar of lions and tigers so close you can almost feel their hot breath! Armed with only a flashlight you continue on at the urging of your guide and notice that you are the main attraction to all the wild animals living at Big Cat Rescue. You see hundreds of glowing eyes, all focused on you and as you pass the enclosures you hear the rushing of the great cats as they make a pounce for you in the dark. You'll hear the roaring of tigers, the screaming of cougars and the caterwauling of bobcats, lynx and more as you try to get back to the safety of your car. It's an adrenaline rush to turn the tables and become the hunted rather than the hunter. It's an experience you will remember and talk about for years to come. Previously this tour was only offered to expedition guests, but due to popular demand, we decided to offer this exciting tour on the last Friday of each month and invite all brave souls to enjoy this awesome activity. 10. Restaurants helping BIG CATS! download (video/mpeg, 11.69Mb) Description: Whiskey Joe's restaurant and Bar recently had it's grand opening in Tampa. They are very generously donating a portion of each customers bill to Big Cat Rescue to help take care of these cats, Whiskey Joe's also offer customers the opportunity to donate directly to Big Cat Rescue when paying for their meal and stocks our brochures at the front desk. Big Cat Rescue staff, volunteers and interns were invited to the grand opening where we were treated to free food and drink all night (which was ggrrrreeat!) The day of the Fur Ball, these dedicated group of staff and volunteers are cleaning cages, feeding the cats, setting up at the event and rushing around making sure everything is just right! It's a very long day that stretches into the early hours of the morning, but everybody keeps smiling, working hard and having a good time, because we all know we're making a difference! 14. Big Cat Rescue - Kid's Tour download (video/mpeg, 85.62Mb) Description: Every saturday morning at 9 AM we provide a special kid's tour for any children under the age of 10 years. This is a great experience for the kid's as they come face to face with tigers, lions, leopards, cougars, bobcats, lynx and more! The tour lasts for about an hour and they get to learn about the cat's individual histories, as well as the species in general. The tours provide a different experience to visiting a zoo as you are only a few feet away from the cats! So you get to hear the tigers "chuff", lions ROAR! and the cougars squeak! Jessica is a supporter of Locks of Love, Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. So with tigers watching in the background Jessica lets Big Cat Rescue volunteers give her hair a new style, all in aid of a good cause! BOBCAT Surgery/Home Makeover - Big Cat TV download (video/mpeg, 36.50Mb) Description: When a swelling was noticed on the ear of one of our bobcats, we decided to sedate Windstar in order to drain the fluid from his ear. We then stitched the incisions open so no further problems would occur. Windstar had been relocated to another enclosure the previous week, so we could renovate his. Lions Tigers - Joseph's Pride update download (video/mpeg, 26.55Mb) Description: Joseph's Pride are two lions and two tigers that were rescued from a facility in Columbus, Ohio on october 19th, 2007. This rescue was made possible by the support of IFAW (the International Fund for Animal Welfare) and by all of our supporters who helped us raise the money to rescue these cats. As you can see in this update all four cats are doing very well and are enjoying their one acre enclosure complete with pool and long grass to play and hide in! Whilst doing a walk through check on our tigers, Manager, Scott Lope spotted a Juvenile Heron in one of our tiger enclosures. After securing Bengali, a retired circus tiger in his lock out area, Scott manages to rescue the bird and release it back onto our lake where it will have a more enjoyable future!
