Website URL http://www.changkhui.com/index...
Description This is the entertainment program on our Changkhui podcast station. A place where we talk freely on things that make us up all days and nights such as movies, TV series, music, books, magazines and novels. Our hosts are Gan and Ood, they spend a lot of time discussing the topics that we think they deserve a program of their own. For those who do not know, Mai-Hlap-Mai-Non is a phrase, meaning "sleepless"; HLAP is pronounced as Lup, as in cup.

Description: On the previous three episodes, Ood sneaked out, recording without Gan. This time around, Gan took revenge by recording with Ood and managed to get a listener to help her out. Tum, a long-time listener, talked about some not-so-main-stream TV series that she enjoyed. She must have enjoyed them all right, since she brought along some DVD to show us. There series were Criminal Minds, Foyles War, House MD, Lewis and The Lost Room.

9. MaiHlapMaiNon 38: Songs When We Drive
download (audio/mpeg, 17.65Mb)

Description: While Sutin and Passakorn drove to Phuket, the topic came to their minds; what kind of songs they played when they drove on their own. So each picked 10 albums and compared notes, it turned out that they had nothing in common, in terms of music selection. It was quite hard to believe that Sutin would pick Iron Maiden when he drove.

10. MaiHlapMaiNon 37: Thai Songs in the 80s (2) and Lights Out in London
download (audio/mpeg, 13.38Mb)

Description: We recorded the 2nd episode of Thai songs in the 80s right after the 1st one, but decided not to launch it, frankly, due to the facts that we were singing even worse than the 1st one. And then we recorded an ad-hoc episode about a guy who were in London during a blackout evening, Ood was entertaining as usual, but the episode was rather short, so we decided to combine both and make a special episode out of the two. Hope you enjoy it.

11. MaiHlapMaiNon 36: Ghosts
download (audio/mpeg, 8.87Mb)

Description: It must have itched Ood somewhat to come up with this topic. It started with a post on our webboard about wanting to hear Changkhui talk about ghosts. But we had talked about it in the Changkhui program, so Ood took it in his own hand and launched it in Mai Hlap Mai Non. This was more towards the Bhuddhist approach, rather than the scientific approach in Changkhui.

12. MaiHlapMaiNon 35: Heroes
download (audio/mpeg, 11.20Mb)

Description: a little-known TV series named Heroes. It started as Pattanapong's posting on our webboard on how interesting the series seemed to be. And then, as usual, Wikanda became the de facto distributor, speading words of mouths on the series. Sutin also seemed to like it. Since the series only had one season as of 2007 so there was not much to say and spoil our listners, let's just say that this was one serie worth watching.

13. MaiHlapMaiNon 34: ZadZad.com
download (audio/mpeg, 23.52Mb)

Description: We invited Pee, the founder of Zad Zad podcast station, and his friend, Aee for this episode. Zad Zad was formed a few months ago and mentioned our Changkhui site as one of their inspiration, we were quite thrilled and honour to hear that so we would like to know more about them and this should be a great opportunity to promote their site, not that we were very popular! At the moment, the site had 2 podcasts; one was Ezy China, anything about China, and Z Toon, anything about cartoons.

14. MaiHlapMaiNon 33: Funny Experience
download (audio/mpeg, 23.20Mb)

17. MaiHlapMaiNon 30: Miscellaneous issues on Thai Drama
download (audio/mpeg, 14.09Mb)

Description: It was obvious from the episode that Ood really had a lot of free time, he watched quite a few Thai drama series. The three commented about the oning TV series during the time. Gan was up to date as usual, but it was still Ood, who seemed to know the hottest actresses on TV.

download (audio/x-m4a, 17.33Mb)

Description: Pakabutr took us to EMI Music (Thailand) to talk to a BLUR fan, Samkwan Tonsompong. BLUR was a British band that was famous during the 90s, in the same era as Oasis. Therefore, the BLUR-Oasis comparison would come up during the conversation from time to time. I must admit that I never listened to or knew BLUR before this episode. Nonetheless, the songs that Samkwan played during the episode were quite interesting and not that over the edge for my taste. Hope you enjoy it.

20. MaiHlapMaiNon 27: Foreign Songs in the 80s, part 2
download (audio/mpeg, 25.78Mb)

Description: Another nostalgic episode. Looking back in the 80s, these were songs that the four grew up with. Reminding that coming of age moment. Rud led the team in explaining some history of the songs, a few were inaccurate, but it was not interrupted due to the flow of the conversation. Hope you all enjoy it as much as we did. It was so enjoyable that we had to break it into 2 episodes.

download (audio/mpeg, 13.32Mb)

Description: Ood is back from his scuba diving trip and appeared in Mai Hlap Mai Non podcast for the first time in video format. He had kept Gan waiting for weeks to do this episode. As usual, Ood borrowed the series from Gan, and really enjoyed it, so much so that he could talk about it. You may see the video episode of this podcast at our site, http://www.changkhui.com

25. MaiHlapMaiNon 22: Thai TV Drama
download (audio/mpeg, 27.01Mb)

Description: An old friend of ours posted a comment about Thai TV Drama on our webboard (http://changkhui.com/smf/index.php?topic=211.0), and he happened to be in Bangkok for the week (he usually lived in Chiangmai), so we invited him over for a discussion. Too bad, Ood was MIA again, due to scuba diving in Burma, but we managed to get Aum to join the discussion. This was the first MLMN episode in video, but, we did not to want to exhaust your internet connection, so we still put the MP3 file in the feed and you can see Google VDO on our site.

26. MaiHlapMaiNon 21: Stephen King
download (audio/mpeg, 21.44Mb)

Description: The gang from episode 20 continued their conversation this week, but on a different topic. Zybernav and Boy were King's fans, they had read quite a few, while Ood and Gan were towards movies from King's books. There were some noteable mentions of some of the more outstanding books from King's, such as the Stand, It and Needful Things.

27. MaiHlapMaiNon 20: Sci-Fi Novels and Movies
download (audio/mpeg, 22.97Mb)

Description: Ood and Gan invited a fan on the show, Zybernav. He had posted an in-depth coverage on Sci-Fi on our webboard that triggered us to invite him on the show. And as a defensive measure, the two also invited Boy and Job on the show to contribute to the topics. This should make some audience feel like going out to rent some DVDs.

28. MaiHlapMaiNon 19: Book Rental Shop
download (audio/mpeg, 29.07Mb)

Description: Gong, a books-for-rent shop owner, shared his experience in running a shop. This episode was more info than being fun.

29. MaiHlapMaiNon 18: Thai Songs in the 80s
download (audio/mpeg, 27.72Mb)

Description: Another nostalgic episode. This time, rather than finding songs for the discussion, we decided to play guitar and sang ourselves. For those who like the Innocent, Free Bird, Kiriboon, GrandEx, McIntosh, etc., this episode was really for you. And for us, it was a cheap night out for in-house karaoke.

30. MaiHlapMaiNon 17: Quotes from Movies
download (audio/mpeg, 28.43Mb)

Description: Have you ever had some favourites moments in movies, especially those nicely crafted conversation? Bay collected these as a hobby and shared it with us. Gan also pulled down from quotes from the AFI site, http://www.AFI.com to compare notes. Funny enough, some simple sentence like "I am your father" could really remind people which movie that came from.

31. MaiHlapMaiNon 16: Japanese Cartoons
download (audio/mpeg, 23.73Mb)

Description: Gong, who runs a book rental shop, comes back to discuss Japansese cartoons. Chai, also a cartoon fanatic, joined the gang. There were quite a few cartoons from the 80s, 90s and very few from 2000s. A few questions from those who read them during school days and never have a chance to finish, so we all field questions about those cartoons that we have lost tracks over the years.

32. MaiHlapMaiNon 15: Thrillers
download (audio/mpeg, 29.07Mb)

Description: Aum, one of our fans, joined us for a movie discussion. They all discussed about their favourite thriller movies. This time, we tried to be more up to date, there were movies from the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s, otherwise, we would really be a bunch of old timers, talking about old movies. You would get to hear some familiar names, such as The Shining, The Omen, X Files, etc.

33. MaiHlapMaiNon 14: Gou Leng
download (audio/mpeg, 25.33Mb)

Description: Lonely Dragon was our special guest this week. He won the Fan Pan Thae game in 2003 for GOU LENG Chinese novels. So Gan and Ood invited a few others to join the discussion. This was in order to balance the Jin Yong tape, a few episodes back.

34. MaiHlapMaiNon 13: Soundtracks
download (audio/mpeg, 28.89Mb)

Description: Still in the favourite topics, this time it was the movie soundtracks. Naturally, by our age, most were from the 80s, such as Top Gun and Footloose. However, there were some Thai soundtracks mentioned, such Wai-Ra-Reueng and Nguen-Nguen-Nguen, and, towards the end, we also mentioned some Chinese TV series.

35. MaiHlapMaiNon 12: Favourite Magazines and Newspaper
download (audio/mpeg, 14.22Mb)

Description: This is one of the least talked-about topic in print media, individual favourites. Each came up with their favourites and compared notes. It was a light discussion with passion. Some even quoted very old and no-longer-available such as Quiet Storm.

36. MaiHlapMaiNon 11: Top 5 individual favourites, part 2
download (audio/mpeg, 31.66Mb)

Description: Apparently, the gang became famous, they had fans now; Ben (AKA Ben'Tale) came on board to share her favourite books. So Ben, Gan and Ood shared their opinions about each favourite book. It's worth mentioning that Rid-Meed-Sun was a favourite among a few in the gang.

download (audio/mpeg, 16.54Mb)

38. MaiHlapMaiNon 9: 100 Recommended Books for Thai
download (audio/mpeg, 20.80Mb)

Description: Time to come back home and talk about our own art heritage. This time, Gan and Ood pulled Boy (again) and Passakorn (the producer) to discuss about an old list, compiled by a government-sponsored team to come up with 100 recommended books for Thai. This list is provided on this link, http://www.cupress.chula.ac.th/bestbook.htm. We felt very incompetent since we all combined to having read about 20 books in total, a few were totally unheard of. But it's a constructive discussion that we all thoroughly enjoyed.

download (audio/mpeg, 31.19Mb)

41. MaiHlapMaiNon 6: Timeline on Chinese Novels, part 2
download (audio/mpeg, 22.47Mb)

Description: Gan and Ood managed to get Boy finish the story. This time, they spent a fair amount of time on the family dynasty of Ming, Yuan, etc. As usual, Ood tended to steer the topic away from the assigned topic.

42. MaiHlapMaiNon 5: Timeline on Chinese Novels, part 1
download (audio/mpeg, 14.61Mb)

Description: Gan, Ood and Boy performed a respectable job of sorting Chinese martial arts novels in chronological order. More often than not, Ood would steer the conversation away into some other topics, and it was up to Gan to pull him back onto the topic. Once again, Boy was the most knowledgeable one who did a lot of hard work. It's an entertaining episode with a few laughs. And, as usual, they ran out of time so we had to continue it to the week after.

43. MaiHlapMaiNon 4: Chinese Novels, part 2
download (audio/mpeg, 14.33Mb)

Description: Gan and Ood did not stop at pulling Boy (from Changkhui), they managed to get Wor (Changkhui) and Chai (Engineer and Architect) to discuss their nostaligic syndrome. This time, it was more about the classic 80s Hong Kong TV series. Ood even sang the famous "the Bund" song.

46. MaiHlapMaiNon 1: 24
download (audio/mpeg, 14.22Mb)

Description: Gan and Ood introduced the not-so-new TV series "24", from the USA TV networks. There are 24 episodes in a season, every episode happens in the same day, each represents an hour in the day consecutively, thus, 24. This is one series that really keeps us up all night to finish the DVD.
