This month, we have Mike’s “other” band Acoustic Soup in the studio, playing a few songs and having a chat. The band, consisting of Mike (guitar & vocals), Arthur O’Hara (mandolin & vocals), Nils O’Hara (bass) & Carl Warner (percussion) will be playing at the next live Fishbowl (the first one of 2008!), at Morello in Matfield, Kent, on Sunday 13th January, starting at about 7pm.

Also on the bill will be Jake Boyle, who last played the Fishbowl in Summer 2006. The first hour of the evening will be an “open mic” slot for anyone who wants to come along and play a couple of original songs. Entry is free and the food there is FAB so come along!

This month’s Fishbowl podcast features The Stand, who came along to Carrot Cottage Studios earlier this week to play a few songs in session and to have a chat with Mike & Daren about what they’ve been up to and what they have planned.

The Stand will be playing at the next Fishbowl Acoustic Showcase at the Trinity Arts Centre in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday 15th December, along with Little Fish Big Pond (who?) and Seeker. Tickets for this gig (£6 adults, £4 kids) are limited and will probably sell out fast, so we recommend booking in advance from the Trinity box office at www.trinitytheatre.net or 01892 678678, to avoid disappointment.

Stone the crows! Has it really been six weeks since our last podcast and six months since Fishbowl 011? Where does the time go?

Hello there!

Here we are with another exclusive live recording from the Fishbowl. The charismatic Mr Alfie Noakes, a maestro of the guitar and songwriter of depth, played a set at the Fishbowl in March.

"Like Nick Drake but with bigger balls" was how one particularly eloquent member of the audience described Alfie while watching him perform. Couldn't have put it better meself.

Time for our second video podcast, from a fab night at the Fishbowl on 29th April, when Origami Dinosaur came along and inspired everyone with their groovy tunes.

It was a stripped-back performance - no Dan on bass and no Afro Joe on iPod and curly dance moves, just Helen & Andy on guitar and vocals - but that didn't stop them bringing the house down.

We have something very new and exciting for you today - our very first VIDEO PODCAST!! Yes, welcome to Fishbowl TV!

For this first TV show, we have a stunning performance from Doon MacDonald, playing "You Got Me" from her album "Which Sister Knew", live at The Fishbowl at The White Hart, Wadhurst, on 29th April 2007.

Doon will also be playing a set with her band, The Fair Few, at the next Fishbowl at The Trinity Arts Centre, Tunbridge Wells, on Saturday 26th May. It's going to be a cracking evening, with Little Fish Big Pond and The Sound Sanctuary also on the bill. Excellent value for £6.
