1. Mr Biffo: Confessions of a Chatroom Freak
http://www.pod3.tv/node/273 download (video/x-m4v, 133.99Mb)

Description: In this video podcast, sponsored by Wiggly Wigglers, Mr Biffo (BAFTA nominated screenwriter Paul Rose), otherwise known as LoopyLisa21f, discusses his alternative digital life in internet-based chatrooms. Brought to book by The Friday Project, this is Paul Rose’s first book and takes us through a journey of the bizarre, funny, sad and sometimes desperate world of the lonely hearts. Mr Biffo has been Paul’s alter ego for sometime and may have been influenced by The Beano comic, which features the adventures of Biffo the Bear. Mr Biffo’s alter ego, LoopyLisa21f, was inspired by an act of revenge which grew like topsy, eventually becoming a liberating space for Paul to be creative and uninhibited in his on-line chats with men. Or women. Or men pretending to be women. Confused? You will be once you’ve watched this show! 3. Matt Duggan: Muggle Meets Magician
http://www.pod3.tv/node/253 download (video/x-m4v, 144.54Mb)

Description: Never mind Hogwarts and Defence Against the Dark Arts, this video podcast is real magic! When Matt was given Paul Daniels Magic Set as an 8 year old, no one knew what would happen - but one of the oldest tricks in the world was one of the earliest tricks, or effects, that Matt learned. Dating back some 4000 years at least, the classic cup and ball effect was first performed by Dedi to such folk as the Pharaoh Cheops, making Dedi the earliest known magician. Matt takes us through the dark art of the magician, describes the philosophy and skills needed to be a 21st century magician and explains why it's easier to fool adults than children. In addition we visit the team at IDF Sheet Metal Fabricators in Chesham during their lunch break and confound, confuse and otherwise spellbind them during their lunch break with some close up magic effects. And he doesn't use a wand. If you enjoyed the Minipod preview, download the full show to iTunes or to your desktop by clicking on the buttons above.

4. Gallery 435: Guerilla Art
http://www.pod3.tv/node/251 download (video/x-m4v, 124.69Mb)

Description: Gallery 435 is an art gallery with a difference: it doesn’t actually exist. Everyone knows where the Tate Modern is - not so gallery 435 as it doesn’t have a permanent home. Instead Gallery 435 specialises in blitzkrieg or guerilla art exhibitions - taking over unused spaces for temporary exhibitions that feature the best and most challenging work from local, national and international artists. The most recent show “Random!” featured a collection of mixed media installations ranging from the Iraq war, roadkill, a charity shop in a wardrobe, a piece which breaks faith and religion down into a game, and a surreal room with a turf carpet, chairs that can’t be sat on and a feature many Brits are becoming all too familiar with - a bank of CCTV cameras. The artists are Alison Andrews, Richard Vidler, Imogen Welch, Doug Jones and Helen Philpot, and our host is the energetic Zoe Hatch. 5. Michael Barrett: Going Nationwide
http://www.pod3.tv/node/248 download (video/x-m4v, 160.16Mb)

Description: When the BBC created and launched a popular early evening current affairs show in 1969, they created a legend. Bringing in audiences of some 20 million each evening, the format was brilliant: bring together regional news magazines into one nationwide show. Spotlight South-West, Reporting Scotland, Scene Around Six, Midlands Today, Look North, Wales Today, Points West, South Today, Look East and London all came together in a show called Nationwide. The anchorman was Michael Barrett and he co-ordinated the show from London's Lime Grove studios. In this video podcast Michael describes how the show came into being, how it evolved and how the team grew with Valerie Singleton (from Blue Peter) Sue Lawley and Richard Stilgoe. Michael left the show in 1976 to build a successful career in the then new industry of "The Corporate Video". Micheal also discusses how TV has changed and what the future may hold. 6. Edwin Alexander: The Man who Stole Jesus
http://www.pod3.tv/node/198 download (video/x-m4v, 198.57Mb)

Description: Most of us live our lives taking books for granted...if not books, then certainly the authors. Charles Dickens, Shakespeare, Dick Francis - all had to start somewhere and Edwin Alexander has made that start with his first novel "The Man who Stole Jesus". In this video podcast Edwin discusses the challenges that producing a full length novel posed; how he tackled character development and dialogue, especially representing the opposite sex. Among the influences, Edwin cites his wife and daughter, Brian Sewell, German sculptor Veit Stoss (1450-1533), real life and a lot of research... oh, and you can buy the book from our store! Zoe's dream is to be a professional actress and dancer and to perform in the West End, on Broadway and in films. To help her on her way Zoe created a performing arts company called Living the Dream, of which she is Managing Director, and we recorded this video podcast with her and her company as they were rehearsing for their first two night show. Given that Zoe is 16, I suspect we'll be seeing a lot more of this remarkably talented young lady. 8. Helen Price
http://www.pod3.tv/node/155 download (video/x-m4v, 96.18Mb)

Description: Helen Price is a visual artist that works with materials and fabrics to create her pieces. Influences include electron microscope images of the interior of people’s bodies, the colourful world of moths, and high art such as the opera Madame Butterfly and William Shakespeare. Helen is passionate in her view that the finished artwork is only the visible tip of the iceberg and that all of the preparation and test pieces, research and sketches not only help form the final piece, but form part of the total artwork offered. Unless this work is done, then the final piece is merely a “copy” of what it should be - the work hasn’t been done to really explore and define the idea. So bad news for all those art student who feel they are being put through hoops by their tutors - there is a reason after all! Walking the walk, in this video podcast we look at some of Helen’s preparatory and exploratory work that led up to the creation of some remarkable images based around Madame Butterfly. 10. David George
http://www.pod3.tv/node/153 download (video/x-m4v, 178.27Mb)

Description: A moment's inattention with a circular saw left two and a half fingers in the dust. David, never having sculpted in his life before, took on his friend's project and completed the Dolphin for the bow of a ship. Two months later, David lost his hearing in one ear due to a common cold viral infection and he was incapacitated for weeks as he tried to regain his balance. For a professional musician, this could have been devastating, but David saw opportunity where others would have seen disaster and he is now an accomplished sculptor based in Hamspire, England. In this video podcast we review the incidents that led him down this path; David shows some of the tools and techniques he uses on massive pieces of wood to create his trademark smooth flowing lines, and we also review some of his finished work. In this fascinating video podcast, Mike discusses how he became entranced by this surprisingly popular musical genre, how its led him on a journey of discovery, not just about himself but also of old, even ancient music and dance that he's managed to recreate from scraps of information. Mike's passion for this English cultural heritage led him to create the “Tradamis” project, the mission of Tradamis being to educate and enthuse Traditional Dance and Music in Schools. 13. Rhiannon Hill
http://www.pod3.tv/node/103 download (video/x-m4v, 66.55Mb)

Description: Music is a lifelong passion for Rhiannon. She's always been in bands, from mad Zappa -style original to covers duos. When the London County Council decided to bring music to the masses, a teacher was despatched to her primary school which had outside loos and classes of 48 children. No one was prepared for the level of talent and enthusiasm some of the rough working class kids actually showed, so from five, Rhiannon was hooked, eventually earning a scholarship aged ten to the Guildhall School of Music. Rhiannon was made leader of the school orchestra at eleven, but lost interest by about fifteen. This was partly because she was bullied by the music teacher because her mother complained that she got poor Grade V theory results because the teacher used their Friday double periods to go get her hair done! To be fair, Rhiannon also discovered sex drugs and rock 'n roll at that point, and playing Brahms on the fiddle did not fit in. Rhiannon picked music up again at twenty to join a folk rock band called Lysander, and when that broke up formed her own 'ironic' rock band Doppelganger, where she met her kids' Late dad, Steve 'Art' Hill, a wonderful musician who taught guitar at the Brit School but, sadly, died five years ago. Nowadays Rhiannon plays a Yamaha silent electric fiddle in a band called Mr Anchovy, if you like drum 'n bass check it out www.mranchovy.co.uk. Rhiannon started healing in the 1980s with the National Federation of Spiritual Healers. She's had some extraordinary experiences and still does the occasional healing - chakra diagnosis is her favourite. Realising it would be hard to earn a living just healing, she started training as a psychotherapist. Switching to psychotherapy after being a hard faced journalist for twenty years required a painful period of apprenticeship. This required an emotional 360 which took many years, but she says she's grateful for the growth it has enabled in her. To record this video podcast, we went for a day at the seaside and met Rhiannon in Hove on the sunny South coast of England and discussed her life, her music, and how she's combined that with her professional life as a psychotherapist. We also get a demonstration of the versatility of the Electric Violin.

Description: Situated near modern Milton Keynes, Westbury Farm Studios is a haunted, Jacobean farmhouse that’s been converted into a multiple residency artists’ studio. We meet the artists who show case some of their work. Mary Barnes describes herself as a traditional painter who came to the Studios for a month... and has been there for the last 10 years! Sally Annett - a mixed media artist takes us through a massive wall painting which is based on the correlation between our genetic structure and the numbers we use in our key religious systems. Sally also works with Rowena Shepherd in the area of symbolism, one example of which is to use Tarot cards to explore how strong images are in how we interpret our lives. Anabelle Shelton works with paint on smoothly finished metal - to get the paint to stay she had to devise a special process. Her pictures involve people, crowds of people, scattered throughout a landscape but with the landscape removed. Tony Bates is a sculptor who likes to work with light and the reflections and diffractions of light. Lesley Bonner takes us through some of her pieces that reuse found objects. Barbed wire, rusty hinges, molten plastic and even spiders webs all all used. And there’s a regular appearance of a female figure throughout her work.
