3. Contraceptive Options for the Obese Patient
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r... download (audio/mpeg, 11.47Mb)

Description: The possibility that contraceptives are more likely to fail in obese patients is only one of the considerations when counseling overweight women about appropriate birth control options. Given the burgeoning epidemic of obesity among reproductive-aged American women, our ability to provide safe and effective care to this specialized population requires critical reappraisal. The purpose of this program is to assist clinic staff in tailoring contraceptive education messages and services to the unique needs of obese clients. Allison A. Cowett, MD, MPH is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Director of the University of Illinois Center for Reproductive Medicine in Chicago. Dr. Cowett oversees the provision of comprehensive contraceptive services for women in underserved populations, including women with significant medical risks.

5. Side-by-Side Communication: A Paradigm for Connecting with Males in Clinical Setting
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r... download (audio/mpeg, 5.57Mb)

Description: Tom Klaus, MS, is the Program Director for Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiatives at Advocates For Youth in Washington, DC. He contends that the reason reproductive health practitioners find it particularly challenging to provide services to males is because of the communication barrier they encounter -- a barrier he can help you overcome. "Side-by-Side Communication" respects the anxiety of males around personal communication by understanding its reasons, learning side-by-side strategies, and intentionally employing them in an attempt to deliver higher quality services.

6. Abstinence: Just Say Know
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r... download (audio/mpeg, 23.01Mb)

Description: Jennifer Andersen, BA, Sexuality Educator, leads a thought provoking discussion addressing abstinence in the context of sexual health promotion.

7. Discussing Abstinence
http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r... download (audio/mpeg, 10.23Mb)

Description: The promotion of sexual abstinence within the context of comprehensive sexuality education is recommended by The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Society for Adolescent Medicine (SAM). The Title X Service Grant requires the provision of services for adolescents, including 'extramarital abstinence education and counseling'. While curricula exist for this type of sexuality counseling in schools and communities, resources to assist health professionals in office-based counseling about sexual abstinence are difficult to identify. The purpose of this program is to assist clinicians to produce a more targeted, and potentially more effective, abstinence message. Mary A. Ott, MD is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine and Director of Adolescent Medicine at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
