Episodes

1. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 16
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 32.91Mb)

Description: God tells husbands and wives to be ]one flesh^ with one another is to preclude the warfare that goes on between women if a man has more than one. It is a good idea for a woman to not expose herself sexually to a man that has not made the formal commitment of marriage to her.

2. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 15
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.42Mb)

Description: Love is a complex concept that can be explained simply with respect to marriage. To show love to your spouse, wake up every morning thinking of what you can do to make your spouse glad that they are married to you. And then do it.

3. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 14
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.32Mb)

Description: Love does not exist in a vacuum; infatuation may, but not love. Love is developed in the crucible of adversity. Love develops by a shared experience of overcoming the circumstances of life.

4. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 13
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 31.07Mb)

Description: When the spouses become parents, the spouse whose personality matches that of the child may decide to make his or her primary relationship with their child rather than with their spouse, which diminishes the development of the marital bond. This is not a good thing.

5. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 12
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 31.82Mb)

Description: If we find ourselves in a difficult situation that feel that we cannot share with our spouses, our reluctance to share brings dissension to the marriage, because intimacy, be it emotional, psychological and physical, should be the exclusive venue of husband and wife.

6. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 11
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 32.92Mb)

Description: God's teaching in Genesis 2:18 is that women are meant to be men's helpers. And, intuitively obvious from the verse is that assertion that God's purpose for creating women is to help men to not be lonely.

7. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 10
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 32.11Mb)

Description: God tells us to have only one wife and to have marital relations with only her because of the feelings that He has designed into women and the possessiveness that they feel for those with whom they have intimate contact. And we should follow God's instruction in this matter, as some things are to be avoided, because, when done, they cannot be fixed.

8. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 9
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 30.13Mb)

Description: God designed the sex drive in men for a specific purpose and gave man a specific activity designed to satisfy that drive. Genesis 1:28 delineates God's prime directive, saying: 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ]Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.^

9. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 8
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 28.14Mb)

Description: The key to living the active, high risk, high reward investor lifestyle is getting past physical limitations to have faith in God's Word and understanding, as God told Sarah, that there is nothing too hard for God.

10. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 7
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 29.23Mb)

Description: Once God gives us His instructions, He says, ]It's up to you. You can either have faith in Me or not. If you demonstrate faith and follow My instructions, you will live well. If you fail to demonstrate faith and disobey My instructions, you will live poorly, and then you will die.^

11. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 6
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 31.83Mb)

Description: The reason for God's objective admonition that husbands and wives have an exclusive sexual relationship with one another is for the proper raising and protection of children. God gives us the commandment of marriage so that no child will be born to parents that are not related to one another, not committed to one another, and that have not formed a cooperative coalition to parent the child.

12. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 5
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 32.13Mb)

Description: When a person can wisely assess their situation and find the providence of God their situation, they will be grateful to God, and gratitude leads to happiness. If you choose to grateful for that which you have rather than being angry about that which you do not have, you can be happy, regardless of the situation.

13. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 4
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 30.32Mb)

Description: A man only feels committed to a woman and should only have sex with her after he has voluntarily committed himself to her in marriage. And a man will only commit to a girl when he is mature enough to decide that he is ready to settle down, and the girl is the one girl that he wants to be with for the rest of his life.

14. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 3
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 31.76Mb)

Description: The best marriage in the world is the one in which each partner has the objective of helping their spouse have the best day that they can. People should not marry until they understand that the purpose of marriage is to make life better for your spouse every day.

15. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 2
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 32.78Mb)

Description: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

16. The Biblical Design of Gender, Part 1
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 36.52Mb)

Description: God has designed man as the cooperative coalition of husband and wife so that man can successfully achieve the objective that God has given us to exercise dominion over the earth, developing wisdom and knowledge in preparation for further responsibility in heaven.

17. The Reason for Our Thanksgiving
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 32.05Mb)

Description: We are here because Jesus loved us and gave Himself for us, and also because someone that we don't know loved us and gave themselves for us.

18. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 70
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 41.31Mb)

Description: Our sins are forgiven because of the mercy of God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, and our love for Jesus because of His goodness to us calls to love one another as He has loved us.

19. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 69
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 40.79Mb)

Description: It doesn't matter what kind of sinner you were, or how great your disbelief was before your conversion. Jesus is willing to provide you with the experience that will convince you of His deity, and then He is also willing to forgive your disbelief, because the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

20. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 68
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 40.57Mb)

Description: We don't have to perform any ritual to make up for that which we have done, because the Blood of Jesus Christ has paid the penalty for all that we have done. All we have to do is to repent and return to loving God and our neighbor.

21. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 67
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.86Mb)

Description: God offers us Heaven as a free gift through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Let us not arrogantly reject Jesus as did the Jews, or ignorantly reject Jesus as did the Romans, but let us recognize the purpose and the prophecy of Jesus' sacrifice and, in so doing, stay out of Hell.

22. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 66
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 39.55Mb)

Description: The plan of God is not without trials and tribulations, not without problems and pitfalls, not without degradation and disappointments, but at the end of the plan, it says, ]And the third day, He will rise again.^ And it is not just speaking about Jesus.

23. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 65
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.81Mb)

Description: Jesus was willing to follow the plan of God. Although He had committed no sin and although His crucifixion would be the greatest miscarriage of justice of all times, Jesus was willing to accept crucifixion because His death on the Cross would fulfill the plan of God to save the souls of all of those that believe in Him.

24. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 64
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.41Mb)

Description: Our entrance into Heaven does not depend upon how well we compare to other people, but how well we compare to the absolute standard of sinlessness. But God, in His wisdom, developed the sacrificial system, and Jesus Christ's sacrifice satisfies the sentence of every single sinner. God will not condemn Christians regardless of what sin we commit, as long as we believe in Jesus Christ and do not blaspheme the Holy Spirit.

25. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 63
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.02Mb)

Description: These Jews have had their trial before God. They thought that they were trying Jesus, but the fact is that God is trying them, as He is trying all of us. The evidence for the Messiahship of Jesus Christ is before all of us, and all of us have to vote to either accept or reject Jesus' statement that He is the Christ. It's not just the Jews that have to vote on Jesus; we all have to vote.

26. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 62
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.02Mb)

Description: All of us are sinners, and we have all earned eternal suffering for our sins in Hell. But just as God made a way for the Israelites in Egypt, God has made a way for us.

27. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 61
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 32.08Mb)

Description: We ought not pray only when we have trials, but we should recognize that every decision that we make, regardless of how trivial it may be, is a better decision if it is covered with believing prayer.

28. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 60
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.42Mb)

Description: God wants to be our friend. God wants to commune with each of us personally, on a daily basis, not just to give us instructions, but to both talk to us and listen to our inmost thoughts.

29. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 59
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 37.01Mb)

Description: The Holy Spirit is the intelligence of God that is always looking for ways to bring life, meaning reconciliation, to man from God. Those filled with the Spirit of God focus on salvation and reconciliation, just as Jesus brought salvation to reconcile us to God, not condemnation to the world for sin.

30. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 58
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 36.71Mb)

Description: He that chooses the things of the world over the things of God will show his hatred for God once God denies him something that he wants, just as a spoiled child throws a temper tantrum when he does not get his way. But that is where discipline comes in. Just as Jesus chose to make the ultimate sacrifice for us, we can choose to serve God and not be spoiled children.

31. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 57
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 37.04Mb)

Description: God created us with the capacity to think and to choose, because He desired that His relationship with us be one of mutual love as well. To God, how we choose, rather than what we say, is the essence of our expression of love.

32. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 56
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.75Mb)

Description: The devil can certainly devise a temptation that we lack the strength to overcome, so we must simply avoid being available when temptation comes. We may find ourselves disobeying God if we overestimate our strength and fail to heed the admonition of God to avoid temptation rather than to try to resist it.

33. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 55
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 38.72Mb)

Description: The admonition to love one another is placed directly after the admonition to not compete, because it is difficult for love and competition to coexist. One of the most destructive things to a marriage that a married couple can do is to compete with one another. God does not tell a man and woman married to one another to become a team, or to work together, but to become one.

34. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 54
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 38.84Mb)

Description: The unsaved are lost, not because of their sin, as we are all sinners, lost or saved, but because of their arrogance, in that they refuse to recognize that they are not good enough to merit God's Kingdom. Heaven is not a place for good people, but only for the humble people, because only the humble can be saved.

35. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 53
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.68Mb)

Description: Many people confess Christianity but are not committed to it because they are not really convinced that they need salvation. They may know that Romans 3:23 says that all are sinners, but they hold the preconceived misconception that God would not send everyone to hell and since they are as good as anyone else, God won't send them to hell either.

36. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 52
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.91Mb)

Description: The simple reason that we should devote ourselves to living by Christian principles is that the end time is coming, and we don't want to be caught off guard. Sin of every form distracts us from being watchful, and dealing with the negative consequences of sin will have us looking the other way as the Day of the Lord comes upon us. Jesus is telling us that it is wise of us to be obedient to the Bible, which is the doctrine of Jesus Christ, in an informed, insightful and intelligent manner, so that we do not miss the signs that the end of time is coming.

37. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 51
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 36.09Mb)

Description: Let us reject the pride and the sin of the world and espouse humility before Christ, let us reject the arrogance of the world to espouse faith in Christ, and then, let us endure the persecution of the world, because of our testimony of the deity of the Christ. The kings will come against us, and the world will persecute us, but it is only by giving our lives in defense of the Christ that we can become victorious heroes in the army of the Lord.

38. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 50
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.32Mb)

Description: The praise of God, although delayed until His plan is completed, is better than the immediate gratification of the praise of men. The reward of God, although delayed until His plan is completed, is better than the immediate gratification in the reward of men. Belief in God's plan, although His plan may be delayed, is better than the immediate gratification of belief in the plans of man. The authority of God, although delayed while He is completing His plan, is better than the puny authority of man.

39. The Needs of a Father
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.51Mb)

Description: A good marriage is a prerequisite for good parenting, and a good marriage is the joining of two minds, bodies, souls, spirits, hopes, dreams, needs, personalities, and two very different genders into one entity.

40. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 49
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 31.85Mb)

Description: Once we have become righteous to God through our acceptance of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we then have the responsibility to mature; to grow, to understand, and to teach others the pitfalls of license and the benefits of maturity.

41. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 48
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.06Mb)

Description: Jesus is the seed; He is the first cell of the body, and He must die and be buried before He can reproduce. Jesus has committed no sin, and so is not eligible for the penalty of death. However, Jesus lives among plenty of sinners, all of whom are eligible for the penalty of death. So Jesus voluntarily takes on our sin; He pays the penalty of death that we owe for the sins that we have committed.

42. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 47
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.85Mb)

Description: The first requirement for any good servant of God is that they must humbly recognize that they are serving God because of God's grace. The second requirement for a good servant of God is that they faithfully preach the actual Word of God to the people, and do their best to model the life about which they preach.

43. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 46
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 31.01Mb)

Description: Jesus became a man, and increased His stature above perfection by not just obeying the law perfectly, but by sacrificing Himself for mankind. To sacrifice for someone else rather than to place blame on them is the true meaning of the Golden Rule, Matthew 7:12: 12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

44. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 45
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.03Mb)

Description: In Heaven, God will wipe away all tears. Man will not have an emotional deficiency because in Heaven, there is no more death, sorrow, crying or pain, for the former things have passed away. Heaven is a different environment. We will not only be responsible; we will also be in control, as was Jesus.

45. The Love of Jesus for His Own Mother
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 36.25Mb)

Description: As grateful as we may be to our fathers for their provision and instruction, we know that we never would have reached the point at which our fathers could help us had it not been for the physical sacrifice of our mothers. Fathers are analogous to the surgeons who perform heart transplants; mothers are analogous to the donors who give the hearts.

46. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 44
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.30Mb)

Description: There are few problems for which the two opposing solutions are the only solutions available, and often the correct resolution to the problem is to take the positive aspect of each of the opposing solutions into account to develop a third solution that gives each opposing side some satisfaction. This is known as trying to find the happy medium.

47. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 43
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.72Mb)

Description: You cannot bring abominations to God and expect Him to accept you because you don't want to be embarrassed in front of your peers. Jesus Christ died in front of His disciples and His enemies; He gave His life rather than knuckle under to the peer pressure, and we have to have the same mindset if we want to stay at His wedding.

48. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 42
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.55Mb)

Description: Jesus Christ is the stone that the builders rejected, who, by not being jealous of His prerogative as the Son of God, but humbly sacrificing Himself on Calvary's Cross rather than saying ]Mine^, has become the chief cornerstone of the worship of God. Through the humility of Jesus Christ, the jealousy of the Jewish religious leadership has been exposed and finally rejected. Through the humility of Jesus Christ, the works of the devil are finally defeated, and the power of God is made manifest in the earth.

49. The Reality of the Resurrection
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.58Mb)

Description: Scientific observation and experimentation exist so that men can predict and control nature. When unique events occur that are outside of nature, scientists can not duplicate them or experiment on them, so scientists develop theories to explain these events. These theories have no scientific basis, but fit the belief structure of scientists, which may be prejudiced against the existence of God. Since Jesus' resurrection was a unique historical event, outside of nature, rather than one that can be examined by science, we need to go to the testimony of history, rather than to the prejudices of scientists, to decide whether or not the resurrection actually happened.

50. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 41
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.48Mb)

Description: Both John the Baptist and Jesus taught that every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire, regardless of their position in the church. So, the question is not; when your Heavenly Father asked you to go into the vineyard, did you tell Him that you would? The question is: when your Heavenly Father asked you to go into the vineyard, did you go?

51. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 40
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.48Mb)

Description: The devil is here to try to shake our faith, but we should recognize that to believe in Jesus Christ means that we maintain our allegiance to Him regardless of negative circumstances.

52. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 39
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 29.82Mb)

Description: Our focus on the riches that we possess and the fact that we see them as ]ours^ has the tendency to change us emotionally into people that judge other people harshly and feel it necessary to evaluate their worthiness to decide whether or not we will help them.

53. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 38
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.94Mb)

Description: Even those of us that believe in Jesus Christ and know about the Kingdom of Heaven tend to focus on the acquisition of possession rather than increasing the size of the Kingdom of God. As a matter of fact, the purpose of development of the doctrine of ]Name it and Claim it^ is to convince Christians that they can use the power of God to acquire possessions.

54. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 37
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.09Mb)

Description: The Lord is giving us the task to change our focus from ourselves and our preoccupation with the mundane things of this world, and to focus, rather, on our intellectual preparation for making management decisions in the coming Kingdom of God.

55. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 36
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.59Mb)

Description: Keeping the physical commandments is the elementary level of Christianity. The more advanced level of Christianity involves developing a Christian attitude, which is an attitude that works and hopes for the repentance of others.

56. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 35
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 32.23Mb)

Description: Our mission as a church is to provide an effective argument for the historical reality of the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ to our community. It is my job to preach and publish presentations that affirm the evidence that Jesus Christ was a real person, and that the Biblical accounts of Jesus' activities are as historically accurate as are the accounts of the lives of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington, whose birthdays we celebrated last Monday.

57. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 34
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 32.23Mb)

Description: I am not giving you the information about your personal sinfulness to make you feel bad, but to inform you that the way to heaven and pleasing God goes through a completely different route than being protectively defensive about our sinfulness.

58. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 33
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.05Mb)

Description: None of us are correct about that which we think unless we receive an accurate interpretation of the Scripture from the Holy Spirit Himself. We are never as wrong as when we think that we are right.

59. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 32
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 32.56Mb)

Description: If Jesus meant the command to love to apply to any relationship, He meant it for the primary relationship that we have, that being, the relationship that we have with our spouses. A man may choose to give his life for the cause of Christ, but until he does so, he is to live his life for the love of his wife.

60. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 31
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.98Mb)

Description: God does not rely on a strictly intellectual relationship to cement us together; as the two do not become one simply because of an agreement on paper. Marriage is more than a state of mind; marriage is a mutual act, and the act of marriage is the exercise of our sexuality.

61. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 30
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.78Mb)

Description: Submission is nothing more than the exercise of faith. Jesus went to the Cross because He had faith in the plan of God, as He said, ]nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will^ and to meant it.

62. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 29
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.67Mb)

Description: Jesus Christ gave Himself sacrificially, meaning that He put His personal feelings aside and did that which was necessary so that He could accomplish that which God gave Him to do, regardless of the pain that it caused Him. And He is our example.

63. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 28
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.52Mb)

Description: Marriage is not designed to produce constant euphoric emotional satisfaction or sexual ecstasy, marriage is designed to be the process by which we purposefully meld two lives into one that mirrors the relationship between the three parts of the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

64. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 27
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 29.84Mb)

Description: Carnal thinking discounts any spiritual dimension. Carnal thinking is focused on earthly realities, rather than heavenly ones. A person that thinks carnally makes decisions as though life on earth is the only reality, and disregards the reality of death that moves us from life on earth to everlasting life with God. Carnal people function as though they were going to live on the earth forever.

65. The Depravity of Herod
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.59Mb)

Description: God chose Joseph to be the earthly father of Jesus because of Joseph's faith, but also because of Joseph's wisdom. Secular definitions of intelligence include the skills of logical reasoning, problem solving, critical thinking, and adaptation. Joseph heard the word of God, and obeyed. This is an example of both wisdom and intelligence.

66. The Faith of Joseph
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.33Mb)

Description: Joseph had faith in God. Not intellectual faith or theoretical faith, but actual faith. When God spoke to Joseph, even through an angel and even in a dream, Joseph had faith in that which God said.

67. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 26
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.72Mb)

Description: Friendship with God requires us to use that which we have fruitfully to do good works, to increase in the knowledge and the strength of God that comes from exercising the power of God, which will lead us into developing the attributes of patience, longsuffering and ultimately joy.

68. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 25
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 31.30Mb)

Description: We are all God's children, and regardless of the sin that we have committed, the Father is still looking for us to come home and receive His grace, if we will only repent of our sins and believe the gospel of Jesus Christ.

69. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 24
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.64Mb)

Description: The purpose of life and the key to happiness is the development of maturity, not the acquisition of possessions.

70. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 23
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 29.84Mb)

Description: Regardless of how good any of us may think that we are, none of us are sinless, and so none of us are worthy of heaven.

71. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 22
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.87Mb)

Description: We need to avoid becoming like the men of Sodom, who exalted their personal desires above the law of God, although they knew that that which they were doing was wrong.

72. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 21
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.57Mb)

Description: Leaders should not lead their people in opposition to God or His commandments because of fear of that which their followers might do if the leader applies the commandments, which was the case with Jeroboam, or simply because of their own sinful desire to do that which they want, which is the case with most leaders.

73. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 20
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.25Mb)

Description: Our primary concern should be that we develop the proper belief structure that will allow us to be profitable in bringing others into the Kingdom of Heaven.

74. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 19
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 32.20Mb)

Description: The rewards in Heaven are for those that work to increase the number of souls in the Kingdom of God. The Lord exposes us to an assurance of the Gospel, and expects us not only to believe it, but to do that which we can to convince others of its' truth, and to present an attractive church, not meaning one that has attractions, but one that is genuine and sincere about living the Christian life and providing an inviting example to those who are outside.

75. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 18
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.29Mb)

Description: When Jesus Christ points out the error of our ways to us, we have to decide whether or not to repent. There is no magic to help us make the decision. There is also no escaping the consequences of our decision.

76. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 17
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.95Mb)

Description: It is most important that the spirit with which we obey the law of God must be a sacrificial spirit, meaning that we must be able to put aside our own needs so that any benefit that comes from that which we do will go to others, and we must be able to put aside our desires to build up our own reputation so that any glory that comes from that which we do will go to God.

77. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 16
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.36Mb)

Description: Washing with water, in the Old Testament, symbolizes purification. It is important to understand, however, that washing with water only symbolizes purification. Actual purification before God has to do with living a pure life on the inside; to be pure means having a pure thought life, because all actions start in the mind.

78. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 15
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.17Mb)

Description: There is only one solution to our familial problems and our societal problems, and that is the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ, of His sacrifice, of His death, His burial, His three days in the grave, His resurrection and His admonition to us to obey the Word of God. The avant-garde ideas of the psychologists and sociologists of our times will not cure the problem of our society, because new and wonderful ideas are not needed. What is needed is repentance and the application of the Word of God.

79. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 14
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.84Mb)

Description: Pride is a terrible attribute for us to have. Pride causes us to ignore God, and it keeps people from acknowledging that they are sinners that need to be saved.

80. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 13
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 36.27Mb)

Description: Life is about developing intimate relationships, and the path to intimacy between us and God is prayer. We have the capacity, through our interaction with God in prayer, to develop an intimate relationship that will allow us to function on a level higher than we can imagine. There is no limit to the power of God. The limitation is in the quality of our relationship with Him.

81. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 12
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.07Mb)

Description: Every tenet of the model prayer is consistent with the teaching that God is really in control and we are simply sinners that are totally dependent on the grace of God for sustenance and salvation.

82. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 11
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.52Mb)

Description: Religious rituals are only useful if they lead us to recognize our shortcomings and repent. Coming to church without the proper mindset is useless.

83. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 10
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 33.52Mb)

Description: The commitment for which Jesus calls is one of a living sacrifice. Jesus calls men to give their all to the task at hand, even unto death.

84. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 9
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.42Mb)

Description: Our ability to forgive others is the key to the salvific contract, and for many of us, that is not an easy task. The ability to interact with others in the way that Jesus did is the primary attribute that we need to receive from the Holy Spirit.

85. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 8
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.41Mb)

Description: It might not be wise to put a numerical limit on the number of times that you will forgive someone else, because you may find that you yourself need to be forgiven by God more times than your number allows.

86. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 7
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.99Mb)

Description: Our objective as Christians is to learn to be less self-centered and more other-directed, which, if we are successful, will reduce our defensiveness, and increase our ability to admit error and become one with the body once again.

87. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 6
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.39Mb)

Description: Jesus is telling us that we are participants in something that is bigger than ourselves, and as long our thinking revolves around ourselves, we cannot develop the personal characteristics required for maturity.

88. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 5
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 31.25Mb)

Description: Disobedience - our arrogant thinking that we know better than the one that has the position of authority over us, and so rather than discussing the situation with them and getting their agreement to our proposed action, we can just ignore their instructions and do that which we want.

89. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 4
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 34.31Mb)

Description: If we want to successfully maintain our Christian walk, we need to study the Word of God and spend time with God in prayer to become confident in His truth, and we cannot allow suggestions of doubt from the world to distract us from the truths of God.

90. The Man Who Gives Himself
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 31.64Mb)

Description: Husbands, God has not given you a family that you may lord it over them, but that you may sacrifice yourself for them. Neither your personal comfort nor that of your spouse should be your primary concern, but rather doing the will of God by raising godly offspring.

91. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 3
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 16.68Mb)

Description: Those that do not believe in God do not have a reason to disbelieve; they have simply made the choice to not believe in spite of the abundant evidence that God has interacted with our world, rather than because of any evidence to the contrary.

92. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 2
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 31.16Mb)

Description: Jesus Christ tells us that although we need to believe the historical facts about His life death and resurrection, we need to do more in order to be saved than just believe the facts. We must put our own covetous desires to one side, just as we do on the job or as wives do when they obey their husbands. We must pick up the cross, just as when we do the things that the boss asks us to do or as husbands do when they love their wives and give themselves for them. We must follow the instructions and commandments of Jesus Christ.

93. The Last Year of the Life of Christ, Part 1
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.78Mb)

Description: Although Jesus came to the Jews and as a Jew, Jesus did not come for just the Jews. God sent Jesus because He so loved us that He does not want us to perish, as the result of our being judged on our own merits would be that we would be condemned to hell. Jesus did not come to establish or participate in a temporary earthly kingdom, but to establish an everlasting heavenly kingdom by preparing a place in which we sinners can cleanse ourselves and prepare to come into contact with a Holy God.

94. Why Children Don't Take Communion
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.43Mb)

Description: When I was a boy, I went to church, but I did not believe in Jesus Christ. When I became an adult, however, a person that I respected convinced me to investigate the truth of the claims of Jesus Christ, and I did so. The historical evidence that I studied since that day has convinced me that Jesus Christ was a real person, and that the New Testament is just as much of a factual account of what actually happened as any account of any event about which I could read a history book or in a newspaper.

95. Honor For Mothers
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 18.16Mb)

Description: The Scripture indicates that a child should honor both of his or her parents. The designation of both mother and father in the commandment along with the Scripture references about marriage leads me to the conclusion that the designation of honor is, in part, determined by marital status. Fathers and mothers are meant to be honored in the context of the family unit.

96. Raising Responsible Children, Part 4
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 15.97Mb)

Description: The Lord corrects errors in character development. In His Word, God gives us objective principles for behavior that He expects us to follow. Academic success has to do with the ability to remember objective facts: character development has to do with applying objective Biblical principles properly in order to live in the way that God has ordained. Character development allows us to know whether or not it is proper to do that which we desire to do.

97. Raising Responsible Children, Part 3
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 16.16Mb)

Description: Infants and toddlers intuitively find it distressing to have their care relegated to an institutional day-care center, even one run in the most benevolent fashion possible. Children younger than school age are simply not emotionally prepared to participate in an institutional setting; the design of God is that a child be raised by a hands-on parent that can devote his or her, generally her, primary attention to the child when attention is needed. That is why mothers have attached breasts to feed infants and comfort children.

98. Raising Responsible Children, Part 2
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 14.58Mb)

Description: The intellectual fallacy that the parental input of men is not needed can be traced to the fact that children need an intuitive parental interaction during their infant and toddler years. Before children have the intellectual capacity for structured verbal communication, their majority of the interaction that they have require an intuitive focus by their caregiver. Women, created by God to mother children, are uniquely gifted by God to perform this intuitive task.

99. Discipline and Self-Esteem
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 9.36Mb)

Description: We have the good things that we have, not because of our own power, but because the Lord has chosen to not withhold them from us. The Lord is the one that paid the price on Calvary, and we should thank Him for our successes rather than having self-esteem, considering ourselves more highly than we ought.

100. The Reason for the Resurrection
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 39.67Mb)

Description: Jesus Christ has come to be the sacrifice for our sins, to take the punishment that we are owed for the sins that we have committed so that God can give us a new, spiritual nature by the power of the Holy Spirit, and then allow us into Heaven rather than give us the punishment that we so justly deserve.

101. Why Jesus Died
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 40.21Mb)

Description: Jesus Christ died so that we would believe in Him, and then become salt and light to those with whom we come into contact. He could have mentored the whole world, but Jesus chose to only have a few faithful disciples so that we would be encouraged by His example to touch the few with whom we come into contact, and not become discouraged simply because our reach is not as wide as that of the Jewish and Roman leadership.

102. Raising Responsible Children, Part 1
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 42.25Mb)

Description: Let us look at our children as Jesus looked at His disciples, and emulate Jesus' example by living lives of character before them, and then by taking every opportunity to build up our children, not in self-esteem, but using discipline to develop character to build respect for the authority of God's Word in them.

103. Raising Intelligent Children
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 46.66Mb)

Description: In the book of Proverbs, Solomon, the wisest man that ever lived, endeavors to instruct his son in the proper way to live. Instructing our children, both verbally and by example, as to specifically how they should live is, in my opinion, the most important thing that we can do to insure that they appropriately handle their academic goals and life pursuits.

104. The Function of Gender Roles
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 42.22Mb)

Description: Men need women and women need men. Our differing functions, strengths and weaknesses are the reasons we need one another. Simply because we have the ability to function outside of our need for one another does not mean that the need does not exist. The plan of God is that men and women combine to create children to which we can pass on our acquired wisdom and our knowledge of Him.

105. To Love Rather Than Complain
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 46.66Mb)

Description: God designed marriage so that we could help one another and become as one. Satan introduced complaining so that we could drive one another crazy, change the oneness that God planned for us to an adversarial relationship, and become separated and divorced.

106. To Love and Not To Fear
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 20.27Mb)

Description: Our personal discomforts, our personal self-consciousness, and our focus on the bad experiences in our history all combine to make us defensive. Once we become defensive, we find it difficult to allow ourselves to experience the joy that the Lord has for us in our relationships. Our defensiveness leads us into adversarial relationships with our spouses and draw us inexorably toward the dissolution of our marriages that we consciously do not want.

107. To Love and To Cherish
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 21.05Mb)

Description: If husbands and wives decide to focus on the desires and interests of their spouse rather than just their own interests, and if husbands and wives decide to have more esteem for the desires of their spouses than of their own, like-mindedness between the spouses will develop.

108. Why We Must Follow the Commandments
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 35.08Mb)

Description: Your spouse is not perfect, but neither are you. God commands us to grow together. We can only do so by following the marital commandments that God gives us, and to have faith and trust that God is navigating the circumstances of our lives, and will gather us together under the authority of His Word.

109. Emotional Exclusivity as the Sign of Love, Part 2
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 20.06Mb)

Description: Jesus attributed the Biblical regulation concerning divorce the hardness of the heart of man rather than to the will of God, and referred the Pharisees back to the original intention of God, from Genesis chapter 2, that being, that a husband and a wife are no longer two separate individuals, but are joined into being one by the creative action of God.

110. Emotional Exclusivity as the Sign of Love
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 20.06Mb)

Description: Marriage is designed to be an exclusive emotional relationship between husband and wife; each spouse has the responsibility to follow through on their commitment to meet the other spouse's emotional needs. Marriage is a leap, and exclusivity means that you are giving up your fallback position; you are putting all of emotional your eggs in one basket.

111. Physical Touch as the Sign of Love
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 20.78Mb)

Description: If husbands and wives decide to focus on the desires and interests of their spouse rather than just their own interests, and if husbands and wives decide to have more esteem for the desires of their spouses than of their own, like-mindedness between the spouses will develop.

112. Profitable Speech
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 18.59Mb)

Description: The only competent advice that I can give anyone about life is based upon my experience with and understanding of the content of the Scripture. I know that the teaching of the Scripture is relevant to every situation, and if I can constrain myself to only give advice based upon the teaching of the Scripture, I will be doing the service to which God has called me.

113. Keeping The Word of God
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 18.99Mb)

Description: Many of our decisions are made emotionally rather than rationally, as we illogically hope that we can escape the reality of the consequences of making decisions without regard for the Word of God. But, a Christian cannot logically and rationally justify any behavior which is contrary to the Scripture while simultaneously claiming to accept God as the Divine Supreme being in their lives.

114. Salvation By Faith
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 19.64Mb)

Description: Our disobedience to God has earned us a place in hell, and we are not worthy to talk about heaven, lest known go there. If you were to ask; ]based upon personal merit, who is worthy of heaven?^ the answer would be ]no one^. I am not worthy of heaven, but, like the thief on the cross who wasn't worthy either, I'm going to heaven anyway.

115. The Brotherhood of Man
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 19.29Mb)

Description: Jesus died for the sins of all men, regardless of their ethnic group, their racial heritage, their national origin or their religious affiliation. Jesus Christ is the great common denominator between men; He is the one by which we all must be saved.

116. The Three Points of Wisdom
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 19.82Mb)

Description: We are to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. We are to do that which the Word of God tells us, regardless of our feelings about our situation. We are to govern our speech so that it conforms to that which God expects from us.

117. Using God's Gift to Avoid Anger
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 17.96Mb)

Description: We are to think of those positive things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous and praiseworthy. Of course, there are things in life that do not fit the preceding description, but those things that are negative are the things about which we are to supplicate, to pray, to diligently seek the mercy of God to fix and the peace of God to endure.

118. The Meaning of Wisdom
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 20.28Mb)

Description: God is telling you today, through the words of the Bible that I am repeating, that His Word and His principles are still literally true, and that true wisdom is found by serious, earnest and honest study of, faith in, and adherence to the Divinely Inspired Written Word of God.

119. The Purpose of Trials
http://www.familylifebc.com/me... download (audio/mpeg, 20.63Mb)

Description: The major benefit of enduring trials is developing the patience, perseverance and character to recognize that neither the Plan of God, the situation in the world, nor our own personal destiny revolve around our desires of the moment.
