New conference room signs! These are getting installed today at our New York office. They’re the names of our favorite watering holes from our favorite TV shows. I can’t wait to hold a meeting in the Regal Beagle, or prank call someone while they’re working at Moe’s. Which one’s your favorite?

(Yes we named the restroom next to the conference rooms too… didn’t want it to feel left out!)

The Project for the Study of Corporate Personhood

This is my project proposal for a 2012-13 Rhizome artist commission. I’m going to sell my name to a corporation for three months. They will take over all of my public interactions both online and irl. Kenyatta will become a product. I will not exist.

The Project for Corporate Personhood (aka Kenyatta Co) is a three month performance that explores the topics of “corporate personhood” and personal identity.

The American Supreme Court and some politicians have declared that corporations should be treated as persons. So what happens when a person voluntary assigns their personhood to a corporation? Can it be used to raise awareness of the issue of corporate personhood and create spectacle in the process?

Kenyatta Cheese (creator of Know Your Meme, an artist, an activist, and a person) will sell the exclusive use of his name to a corporation for a period of three months. That corporation will assume both the real world and online identity of ‘Kenyatta Cheese’, reimagining his personhood as a brand with the help of ethnographers, lawyers, focus groups, public relations departments, a creative agency, and friends and acquaintances. During this period, Kenyatta (the person) will not be able to use his name except in the case of emergencies and air travel.

I am extremely pleased to launch the first episode of my new educational comedy web series Reel Science, ”The Scientific Method of Oz.” Reel Science is an animated guide, where I take a science lesson and put it in a gene splicer with one of your favorite movies (hopefully we can avoid too many Jeff Goldblum The Fly abominations). In this episode, I start with the basics, explaining the Scientific Method with The Wizard of Oz.

I’m becoming one of those terrarium weirdos. On Saturday I picked up a couple soil/charcoal/pebble kits and ferns from Linden Hill Gardens’ stall at the Springle pop-up in Chelsea Market. There are a couple of empty flower vases sitting in my room that will hopefully transform into cute terrariums next weekend!

After that I have to find some globe-shaped bulbs so I can make these tiny light bulb terrariums.

I feel like this is an alternate path to my already certain future life as a cat lady. I’ll be the one with cat hair all over my sweater vest and weird plants growing in misty jars.

I bowled a 52… don’t think professional bowling is my calling. Time to look for a new life goal.

Saw this big airplane giving a smaller airplane a piggy-back ride …

I saw it too! Serendipitously as I walked to work this morning, I saw it pass between two buildings on 23rd Street. It was incredible! What a lucky moment.
