Had eight dresses alone plus loads of other things. I was ending up around 8 o’clock when Rose walked up with Donna and Joanne Walzak. Then Betty came, then Mrs. Horejsi, Then Frank and John feeling high. I could have died of embarrassment because I had shorts and an old blouse and no bra. They stayed until 10 o’clock. They bought a Dodge Dart. We were supposed to go to the beach with them but didn’t say anything but she asked us to go to Storybookland. Went to bed real late. Read by Jill Engel |

3. 08-04-60 download (, 0.00Mb) Description: August 4, Thursday Had my orchid dress and shoes on today and looked pretty sharp. Saw J in the cafeteria but I didn’t see him at lunch so I thought I’d ask him for a lift. I saw Theresa so I asked her to ask him. Mary asked me if I had a date and when I said yes she looked mad. Theresa came by at lunch and said J said ok. Then just before quitting time I went to wait up and left my purse and when I came back it was gone. I was just sick about it so I was going to wait until Jenny came out and walk with her but Johnny came over to me and said you wanted a lift. So we walked to the car and Joey came along too and boy Theresa made sure she rushed over. I told him about my purse and he was so nice he offered me some money. I made it clear in the car who Joey was and as usual J didn’t say much but he sure kept looking. He was real nice when I got out too. Went over to Aggie’s and had a nice time. Ellen Ahern called. |

4. 08-03-60 download (, 0.00Mb) Description: August 3, Wednesday My eyes were swollen again this morning and did I ever look awful. Saw Aggie on the bus and she pinned me down so I guess I’ll go over tomorrow. I went in for coffee but I didn’t see J. I was still mad. It was awful today so hot and humid but then it cooled off a little after the storm around 10 o’clock. Zoia wasn’t in today. At lunch I was coming in with the papers I saw Johnny so I just said hi. When we quit work Joey was with us and I saw J pull his car out of the lot and park next to us blocking Jenny. I asked him what he was doing and I think he did it on purpose but he saw Joey get in with me that should fix him. He said I shouldn’t get my dress dirty. Worked on my rug in the evening. Also JB was out in front this morning and when he saw me coming he turned around so I ignored him too. Read by Kelly @ Blue Heron |

5. 08-05-60 download (, 0.00Mb) Description: August 5, Friday What an exciting day. Saw Aggie this morning and saw J in the cafeteria in the morning and at lunch too and he kept watching me but he didn’t say anything. Around 8:30 the pullmotors went on strike by 11 the order fillers walked out and we kept getting announcements. I sure couldn’t work hardly. I was planning to go by J on line 3 at last break and tell him I got my purse back but at 2 o’clock we were sent home because the testers walked out. We should come in Monday but I wonder if we’ll work. Saw J when we were leaving and I told him about my purse and then they were pulling out when Joey and I walked by and Theresa yelled that she’d tell that woman I liked her. She came over at lunch and I told her I thought she was rude for not talking in the car. We stopped at Arlene’s and picked up the kids and I went downtown to buy yarn. Read by Isabelle Michaud |

7. 08-02-60 download (, 0.00Mb) Description: August 2, Tuesday Well I’ve had it. This morning I was so tired because last night Rose woke me up to see the light in Mrs. Joris house and then I couldn’t fall asleep. My eye was red and I looked awful. Sat with Joey in the cafeteria and saw J come in and he kept looking around. Then later on he came for a drink and didn’t even say hello and boy was I mad. When I went out for the paper he was there so I said hello and asked him how his vacation was. He was stooping and he looked at my feet and I could have kicked him. He said he forgot to send a card and he was on his vacation the first two weeks. He seemed like he wanted to keep talking but I had to go in. Then before we quit he came by so I called him over but he sure seemed like he could away. When we left work he ran out fast and then when Jenny and I waked by he was standing with Bonnie. While we were in the car he walked by with the girls so I said where are you going and he said real snotty for a walk. I was so disgusted to hell with him. It looked like his car went by on Hoyne but I don’t really think so. Read by Lannie |

8. 08-01-60 download (, 0.00Mb) Description: August 1, Monday Well today J comes back and though I’ve looked forward to it for a month I was very disappointed. I came in for coffee about 1:25 and he came in about 2 minutes after me. Then I didn’t see him. I sat with Joey until the last minute so I don’t know how I missed him and I didn’t see him at lunch either. He didn’t come around all day and I didn’t see him. Natalie came back today and around 3:30 we had lots of excitement. Billy came over and said all the fellows were going on strike and all the bosses were around and everything but it fizzled out. After work we were waiting by the car for Joey and I was standing outside when J went by and beeped the horn. I was glad I had my green dress and high heels on. On Western I met Natalie and Katie and Kathryn. Worked on my rug in the evening. They took Whitie to the vet and he’s got a virus. He’s still pretty sick. Read by Anna Squatriti |

19. 07-21-60 download (, 0.00Mb) Description: July 21, Thursday Each day it gets worse to get up. Met Theresa on the bus and also, Aggie. She wanted to know why I didn't come over and I told her I was busy. So I had to promise I'd come over next week. Then I made it in time for coffee. Boy, was it ever hot today and work was just awful. I had a mess of rejects and lost my bonus. I felt pretty lousy too. We didn't got to the Union Meeting and I was glad because I thought I could clean up my messy bedroom. When I got to Candyland Uncle Joe came in drunk as a hoot owl. Then I was so embarrassed I didn't even say anything to him. When I got home, Rose said that Betty had been over and she brought me a cup and saucer. It was yellow and cheerful and she wrote the cutest card and said it matched my disposition. I went over by Horejis's house, then stayed two hours. When I got back, Rose and I had a terrible fight. I don't know what's the matter with her. She's just awful lately. You just can't talk to her. Read by Sammi Green |

They also had their cousin Frank there and he seems to be a quiet guy. Then Jenny left and said I should stay as long as I wanted and I could have killed her. 25. 07-15-60 download (, 0.00Mb) Description: July 15, Friday I woke up at 6:30 freezing to death so I crawled in with Rose. Then I had to get up to open up for Dad so I went back to my own bed and didn't get up again until 11:30. I was disgusted because I had a late start and besides finishing my ironing I didn't get an early start like I wanted to on the attic. By the time I finished the ironing it was 4 o'clock and then I didn't feel like starting on the attic. Rose went over to Rose's house and I finished reading my book.
