Paganism is a general term given to religious and spiritual belief systems that have a strong bent of naturalism or polytheism.
There are several categories within paganism. Paleo-paganism refers to belief systems that have remained intact, untainted by other cultural influences. Some of the best examples of paleo-paganism is the Japanese Shintoism and Indian Hinduism. These belief systems are some of the oldest in the world, and while some may not be widely practiced today—for example, the ancient Roman religion—they are still acknowledged as a whole, intact and unique approach to interpreting reality.
