Once upon a time, as the fairy tale goes, a young man went off in search to find his true love. He slayed dragons, he defeated armies, he traveled over the seven seas, he journeyed far and wide to talk to a wise man. Well, you know the drill.When you think about it, that’s a whole lot of trouble to go through for a woman you haven’t met. And while the old fashioned romantics might think that the trials and tribulations are a test of true love, most of us feel that love itself is complicated enough  If you can find a simpler way of doing it—if you can get your hands on a secret, or a technique, that will spare you some of the stress (and embarrassment!) of dating—then grab it.

And thankfully, there is a simpler way of getting information: dating podcasts. No need to climb the highest mountain and cross the widest desert to speak to a wise man. All you need is an iPod and an internet connection.

Dating podcasts provide regular tips on all aspects of dating. There are ideas on where to meet other people, and how to dress up and make a good first impression. There are suggestions on how to start a conversation and how to get over the first date jitters. There are also ideas on seduction (in the bar, and in the bedroom) and what exactly you can do to make the other person fall in love.

There are also podcasts that address the many relationship issues and concerns. What do you do when you’re dating someone who’s afraid of commitment? What are the pros and cons of asking someone to move in?  Can you really stay friends after you break up?

There are also podcasts that focus on restaurant reviews and suggestions for unique dates. These are great resources for people who see dates as not just an opportunity to meet other people, but to enjoy an evening. After all, if your blind date turns out to be a real loser, at least you get to say that you enjoyed the food.

Some podcasts actually “introduce” you to potential dates. Subscribers are given access to a database of men and women who have signed up for the service. You can view the profiles of the people there, hear their spiels, etc.  This service is usually linked with membership to a dating site, where you’ll meet thousands more other people.

The more “adventurous” dating podcasts also give tips on being a good lover. Think of them as the Modern Kama Sutra, with tips and secrets to being a master of seduction. These podcasts also include candid interviews of men and women on “what they like”.

Dating podcasts are a valuable resource for the proverbial prince (or princess) looking for true love (or at least, somebody to have dinner with on Friday night). While they can’t guarantee a happily ever after, at least they’re a lot simpler than slaying dragons and giants, or crossing the seven seas.
