Of course there are technology podcasts. Just think about it. Long before podcasts became trendy, when nobody knew (or cared) what RSS feeds were, technogeeks were already raving about the digital format and its possibilities. They were the ones who experimented with the software, and started using home equipment to make their own podcasts. Many of them were responsible for the first podcasts that hit the web, which helped hook the listeners and inspire others to make podcasts of their own.

So with the techno geeks spearheading the podcast revolution, it’s only natural that they clamor for podcasts about what they love most: gadgets, software, technology news.

And with all the new developments, there is a lot to talk about. Just the gadgets alone: new telephones, new computer peripherals, new gaming consoles. When the Playstation III was launched, podcasts all over the world talked about the new features and even included excerpts of the latest games in all of their breathtaking, multimedia glory.

The good thing about these podcasts is that they’re objective and independent; you don’t have to worry that they are biased or trying to protect their own vested interests. These podcasts are definitely useful for those who are planning to make a purchase and want to get the best for their money.

Other technology podcasts are interviews of technology insiders, who talk about upcoming releases and the features that they are working on. Many of these guests are also invited to answer frequently asked questions sent in by fans or users. Listeners are able to get insider scoops and “hear” for themselves the process by which a gadget or software is developed. This behind-the-scenes information satisfies the true techno-geek’s curiosity and desire to know everything and anything about a breakthrough product

You’ll also find a number of technology podcasts that are geared towards the average user. These podcasts provide how-tos and tips, from how to use the latest software to simple solutions to common problems. One example of this are the podcasts on camera technology. Almost everyone has a digital camera, but very few have the skills to fully use the wide range of features. These podcasts explain the different photography techniques and even give “assignments’ for the week to allow users to test their skills on different subjects and under different lighting conditions and situations.

You’ll also see podcasts that take a more philosophical approach, discussing the effect of technology on society. These discussions are not about the products themselves, but the ethical or sociological impact. How do they change the way people think, act, and interpret reality?
